As of about a month ago there were talks of an IBF middleweight eliminator against Cory Spinks...

You'll be devastated to hear that Spinks changed his mind about moving up.

Hey Shoota, great to see you get some game time mate :good.

Sam has had a run of bad luck with opponents:

*Was all set to fight German Benjamin Simon some time back and Simon pulled out with injury - Simon hasn't fought for a year but has a bout scheduled for end of October.

*Then the Cory Spinks thing fell through.

*But he's been keeping himself busy:

Boxing champs say, walk away from violence

by Eugene Benson - Moonee Valley Weekly - 13th September 2011.

TWO of Australia's toughest men are sending a message to Victorian students - walk away from violence.

Australian champion boxers Sam Soliman and Sam Colomban visited senior students at Rosehill Secondary College in Niddrie last week to run a workshop encouraging them to avoid violence.

The workshop was part of the Justice Department's co-ordinated program Choices and has been doing the rounds across state schools since July.
Commonwealth Games athlete Sam Colomban says it's crucial to talk to boys at an age when they begin to define their identity as men.

"When I was younger I made some bad choices and got into a lot of dangerous situations which could have got me seriously hurt or killed.

"I learnt from my mistakes and realised that walking away from violent situations is always the best choice.

"You never know what's going to happen if you take the bait and react."
Boxer Sam Soliman said the best defence in a conflict situation was to walk away.

"People will always say, 'Oh there's the champ! I reckon I can take him!'

"[But] the best reaction is to always put your hands up, smile, say 'I don't want any trouble' and walk away.

"That's using the most important muscle you have, your brain," Soliman says.
Rosehill Secondary principal Peter Rouse welcomed the program to the school.

"Student and parent survey data indicates that Rosehill is seen as a very safe school, but we are always concerned about situations that our students may find themselves in outside of school.

"When major injuries occur to students out of school hours there is always an impact on friends within the school."
The Choices program is supported by an online forum at

Don't get me wrong CHB, I think Sam would handle Garth. This scenario was first mentioned by Daniel Pawsey a while back, I did'nt give it much credit, thinking Geale was looking at o/seas after the tassie fight. I would'nt mind seeing Soliman v Geale as a tune up for Geale. The workrate of both would make a great fight imo. Geale by UD.

Yeah, no disagreements from me. Sammy's a great competitor and such an awkward bugger he may not be what Daniel's looking for.

If Sam and Garth go at it it'll be one ugly war, and I reckon a headclash or three is inevitable.
