Any thoughts on this overlooked Thai fighter? He’s mostly known for his losing efforts against Ricardo Lopez and then being the man to dethrone and retire Humberto Gonzalez in a great fight. How good of a fighter was he?

Another amazing highlight video from the great @haNZAgod

Probably deserves a bit more credit in the pantheon of light flyweight champs than I realised but honestly someone who I didn’t follow closely after he beat Gonzales in one of the best fights of that era.

He could have been one of those one hit wonders and lost his title in the next fight but I just saw he managed to retain the lineal title for over 4 years and 10 successful defenses. I don’t know what the quality of the oppsiton was like but deserves credit for the run. @Flo_Raiden - what was his competition like?

His title run after beating gonzalez was really mediocre with no true standout challengers:

Yuichi Hosono - three time title challenger, losses to yuh, lin and choi best win over yahiro

Antonio Perez - two time title challenger lost to pichit sithbanprachan best win over joma gamboa

Joma Gamboa (solid challenger) - WBA minimumweight champion 0 successful defenses, 6 time title challenger, losses to arce, hoshino twice, harnvichachai and arambulet, notable wins over arambulet and carlos murillo

Shiro Yahiro - three time title challenger losses to sakata and gamez, best win over sang ik yang for opbf title

Alli Galvez (very washed at the time) - four time title challenger losses to perez twice and de jesus

Manuel Jesus Herrera - four time title challenger, losses to patrana, porpaoin and romero, best win over coronel

Julio Coronel - three rime title challenger, resume full of losses to very good opponents, lost to carbajal, sahaprom, adan vargas and tim austin to name a few

Mzukisi Marali (bad) - nothing notable loss to peter culshaw

Ladislao Vazquez - losses to cob castro and arce

His string of opponents during his 4 year reign his competition is really not good to be quite honest. There's literally nobody that stood out as far as quality victory goes other than Humberto Gonzalez when he won the title.
