Do you all think that some fights don't happen because some fighters are the same nationality? I mean, there are many black and white fighters, and the "pride" of the race or nationality doesn't seem to be a big issue when black fighters fight other blacks or white vs. black or white vs. white. If Tito Trinidad was still fighting now on a high level, would we ever see a Trinidad vs. Cotto fight? I know Cotto fought Quintana, but Quintana, although a decent fighter, was never considered elite. If there were 2 prime Cuban fighters right now, would they be fighting each other? Would Khan be fighting a top guy of his same nationality? I'm Puerto Rican, and I would have absolutely no problem fighting another Rican. But that's just me though.
I am Rican too and I had no problem seen Camacho and Rosario bang it out. And if Tito would had fought any Rican during his reign I would not had any problem with it either. Its about the sport.
I'm a Quebecer and I don't want to see Pascal-Bute right now. Maybe in a couple of years, when they both are very big names (and when there will be more than 2 champions from here). And even then, I hope it's a draw.
This happens all the time through boxing... Sometimes it produces some of the best fights we have gotten to witness... The list could go on for days... Camacho vs Rosario Marquez vs Izzy Calderon vs Dieppa Morales vs Barrera Trinidad vs Camacho
