This is an interesting fight Dan, and one I have to ponder a bit before giving an answer. Angott certainly has a style that can prove problematic for Ortiz as he was a mover, and those guys always made Ortiz have to work harder than he would have preffered and often made him look less than stellar even if he ended up with his hand raised in the end. I`d have to watch Angott vs Slugger White again to get a better idea of how this fight would play out, so I`ll reply to this thread later today.
I'll go with Ortiz here for a close, clear decision. Angott was actually best against boxers because he was usually stronger than them in the trenches and he had good enough speed and boxing ability not to be disgraced in making his way in where he could seize the advantage. Against fighters that were strong enough to stand up to him in the clinches, or punched hard enough to keep him from forcing the issue, (e.g. Jack, Williams, Zivic) he didn't fare as well. Ortiz was a big, strong lightweight, and I don't see Sammy's infighting ability ruffling Ortiz's feathers too much. The naturally more skillful Ortiz, by 9 rounds to 6.
