former lightweight champ fought evryone around and was only stopped once in 130 fights. althoug i never saw him fight and based on his resume and his name never being mentioned i would say hes very underrated.

some of the guys he fought:

fought prime SRR three times and lost all three by decision.
lost a decision to Henry Armstrong.
fought Ike Williams 3x losing twice by dec and winning one by KO.
    beat Bob Montgomery 3x.
    beat Willie Pep.
    beat Freddie Miller.
    beat Lew Jenkins.
    beat Petey Sarron.
    beat Allie Stolz.
also beat quality guys like Baby Arizmendi,Leo Rodak,Kid Azteca,Johny Bratton and Wes Ramey.
was stopped only once by Beau Jack when he quit between rounds due to cramps, also drew with Jack on another fight.
    lost to F.Zivic by decision.

What do you guys think of him?

I`ve got some footage of Angott and he looked to be a very cagey and clever boxer who preffered working on the inside. He had excellent footwork and was a good combination puncher with fast hands as well. I think he would have done very well in todays era and would have been a multiple belt holder for sure, he was a very good and underrated fighter in my opinion.

I read that one of the decisions against SSR was booed like crazy. He was short 5-6? Robinson was tall 5-11.

Well, it certainly wasn't their 3rd one (which I have on film). Robinson dictated that one easily. All Angott did was mostly back away and hold.

Robinson was still around lightweight/ jr. welterweight when he fought Angott the first two times, and Angott had a huge edge in experience then, so I imagine he probably was competitive with Robinson at that time. By the time they fought the third time, Robinson was at his peak as a full welterweight, and Angott just couldn't match him.
