Interesting matchup. Genaro has a considerable height advantage but if boxrec is to be believed on this (debatable), only a 1-inch reach advantage. Neither has a great KO record, and while Hernandez does have a higher stoppage rate it should be noted that Serrano scored knockdowns in a lot of his defenses so he had some pop even if he wasn’t much of a finisher. The one result on either guy’s record that stands out as possibly giving us a bit of insight into how this might go, IMO, is Roger Mayweather stopping Serrano. Roger wasn’t as tall as Hernandez but he had kind of an angular build and was a sharpshooter who threw straight punches well … as was Hernandez. Also worth noting that Genaro beat Azumah Nelson, which to me is the best win on either of these guys’ resume. Both were really good distance fighters so conditioning isn’t going to be an issue here or give either an edge. They’ll be fit to go bell to bell. So I’ll go with Hernandez here by UD, but I’m interested in what others think.
Hernandez all day and easy. Hernandez was like 5'11 and very tall for his weight class. Not to mention that unlike tall fighters Genaro could more then hold his won on the inside as well ripping shots to the body. Hernandez only lost twice to two great fighters- Mayweather and De La Hoya and Hernandez is in my opnion one of Mayweathers top 5 performances where he should how truly talented he was.
I'm not too familiar with Serrano, but I have some boxing mags from when he was fighting, and in a few he's called "Sad" Sammy Serrano, anyone know why this wa?. Was he a bad fighter or was it the quality of his opposition.
