Samuel Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou & Stephen McKenna vs. Moussa Gary RBR

McKenna out to "God Almighty's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash...and let me see, yep, all black attire, kid gets style points for that.

 

Round 1

Gary comes out aggressive, bopping McKenna upon the left ear and temple with some chopping rights as McKenna digs into the body and then staggers Gary with a massive right splashing between his eyes. They rumble in the pocket a bit more, and the same happens - Gary sprawling away, rocked by a heavy axing right up top. McKenna is ripping body shots whenever they aren't trading blows up top. McKenna is winging some wide bombs in the closing half-minute as both grow fatigued, arm-punches that are caught on the guard or bouncing harmlessly off the flanks and neck of Gary.

10-9 McKenna, outworked him by a country mile and landed harder stuff but Gary came to fight every step of the way.

 

Commentators prefaced the first bell with something like "don't blink", and not ten seconds later it was absolute war in ring center.

 

Round 2

More brawling toe to toe, McKenna literally windmilling his arms, both with underhanded body shovels and downward slicing head shots from the rafters. Gary is throwing straighter and putting together combinations up into the face of McKenna, but getting backed up by the frenetic onslaught of McKenna, who grunts through his gumshield with each effort. Gary is visibly bothered by the connecting body shots now. Gary putting up goal posts but slowly losing his nerve and lowering them when McKenna starts slapping away below his elbows,

20-18 McKenna

 

Kid's fun to watch and will make a fair living putting local arses in seats (in both the UK and his native Ireland, maybe across the pond someplace like here in Boston) but will never rise above maybe a Commonwealth title, hard ceiling.

 

Round 3

McKenna is getting interrupted with frequency as Gary either steps to him with straight high counters or smothers and ties him up, but McKenna is still wearing him down, imposing his taller frame on the inside, leaning on him until Gary has to bend, then ladling out leather and just overpowering him. McKenna doing nothing artful but everythig he needs to get the dub. Gary fighting well but physically outmatched.
