Samuel Peter .... excuses?

The Klitschko case is a totally different one. Peter was in a serious situation in that fight with a lot to gain and an 0 to lose and when his opponent is constantly jabbing and grabbing, turning his back on him whenever he's in a good enough position to fire back andget the judges' attention he will get frustrated as the referee is doing nothing about it. Every time Peter gets some sort of beneficial position he's either grabbed on or Wladimir turns his back on him, he ignored it for a few rounds but eventually got pissed and punches him there. Well, if his opponent is cheating why can't he?, you criticise Peter for cheating but label Wladimir as an angel from God with his own OBVIOUS cheating tactics. Try to bring some fairness please.

The not standing infront of him part is just frustration rather than excuse, it was never called an excuse and I didn't see him mention it in every interview he was asked about his fight with Wladimir. An excuse would be something like "I was sick", "Vaseline, chocolate, KFC and poison from Don King is what got me to lose this fight"(remind you of someone?), "I wasn't prepared for this fight" and bull**** like that. I'm a Wladimir fan, don't get me wrong but I'd rather call it like it is than be blind.

I liked what I heard from Sammy.

No backwards steps. He knows the fight is in a place where he might get robbed, so why leave it to the judges.

He is gonna go right at VITKLIT like a raging bull. I wouldn't even be surprised if VITKLIT gets the Golota treatment in this one. We all know what happens to stiff fighters who leave their chins way up in the air.

Well, that's revisionist history for you. Suddenly people say Toney was kicking ass from bell one, as opposed to two pretty quiet rounds that the judges had down as one drawn and one for Rahman (one judges said both for Rahman).

Disappointed it ended when it did, I can't lie about that, and I expected more fortitude from Rahman. But in reality little was settled, and I don't think either guy can pump their hopes up based on that fight.

 

Peter could not even beat Wlad he is not going to beat Vitali.

 

Yeah everyone was disappointed that night. Sadly the result is final and based on what went during the fight it looked like Rahman was doing better to me.

 

I cannot believe that people are making a big deal out of the Peter excuses and not his opinion of Dr. Iron Fist. He called Vitali Klitschko a bum? Why isn't anyone pointing out his ignorant mentality? If he truly believes that Klitschko is bum, he is in for a long night. Klitschko may be many things, but a bum he is not. He needs to go into this fight with a much more humble attitude, in my opinion, in order to be successful. I don't think his corner is preparing him well mentally for this fight. They need to prepare him for the best version of Vitali Klitschko. Anything less will be catastrophic for Peter. Vitali klitschko is one of the most resourceful and intelligent Heavyweight fighters of our generation. He shouldn't be dismissed or taken lightly.

 

If Peter is making excuses for losses, he joins a long list that includes most professional boxers. Have you ever heard Evander Holyfield talk about his losses? He'll even tell you that the first fight with Lewis was correctly scored as a draw. Pernell Whittaker was telling people that he got robbed against Trinidad.

It's what fighters do. I don't have a problem with it.

 

Toney-Rahman I, was not that bad of a draw.

If Rahman were not allowed to throw his astronomical number of kidney punches in that fight, it would have been nowhere near a draw...or what about the fact that he was throwing more forearms than Tito Santana...???

Toney clearly won 2 of 3 rounds in the rematch though...

...and won the fight itself as reflected by the referee, announcer, fight doctor, those in attendance, and anyone who watched it except for you and Haye...but we know how truthful he is when sizing up a prospective opponent.

Toney was robbed.
