Even though his prime was short, Peter was a very heavy handed beast at one point when he was undefeated. I think he'd take out Wilder out.
Peter by KO late. Iron chin, tons of power. Dropped Klitschko 3 times, who humiliated Wilder in sparring. Beat Mcline, Maskaev, Toney (close)
When is Sam Peter's prime supposed to have been, 2005? Either way, his best showing was coming up short against Wladimir Klitschko who at the time was lacking confidence. Not long after his supposed prime, Jameel McCline landed some 46% of his power punches, dropping Sam Peter multiple times. Samuel was notorious for rabbit punching, that would've likely been his greatest chance at scoring an upset stoppage of Deontay.
Peter hit just as hard as Wilder and was much tougher. He was probably cruder too, but that doesnt really matter because Wilder has little defence anyway. Sam puts him to sleep.
if peter didn't run into klitschko and vitali stayed retired he would have dominated for years, no way peter gets knocked out by wilder.
Lol Wladimir never had any confidence. Well against anybody who punched back. The moment any fighter moved forward and touched Wlad's chin he ran like a woman. In any case the Wlad that Peter fought was still a better fighter than Deontay Wilder. Which isn't say much for either one. Wilder can't take a punch either. The Peter that fought Wlad would stop Wilder in less than 5 rounds.
Wilders the better overall fighter but I think this is a bad matchup for him. Peter gives him some scary moments before Wilder takes control and hurts Peter late. I think Wilders too tall and rangey. And Peters hittable enough that Wilders power will eventually make an appearance. Wilder by close and competitive UD or late stoppage.
Wilder is more dangerous , way more dangerous. Peter wouldn't be good enough to drop Fury like Wilder did. He's slow and has no boxing IQ. Wilder would land his power easily on Peter. Dom Breazzele is a 6'7 version of Sam Peter. We'll see how that goes.
