If Peter could take Wilder's one two down the pipe (and he took a ton of flush one twos from Wlad without flinching) then he could pose some real problems for Wilder with his brute strength and clubbing caveman shots. And though Peter was crude he had a canny ability of being able to land hard shots on more technically proficient boxers.

He'd often use his lead left hand quite efficiently, sticking it in fighters faces either as a phone pole jab to bust through their guard or a means to hold them in place for his big clubbing OH right. His swinging left hook was also quite dangerous, and he could throw it out of a semi crouch that could catch taller fighters that might think they were out of range. In close he could shorten up his shots and still hit like a ton of bricks. Watch the second Toney fight to see how much he busted Toney up with his chopping arm punches to the head and body, while again making good use of his jab and lead left hand outstretched to keep Toney in his shell and at optimum punching range.

Against the much taller Wilder he'd likely throw a lot more over the top head shots, trying to use his strength to manipulate Wilder and throw him off balance, where he could launch heavy rabbit punches to the back of Wilder's dome. Like early Wlad Wilder has a tendency to lose his footing and get ragdolled by shorter powerful opponents (Wlad solved that by developing the limpet clinch, but that's not something Wilder ever did).

If Wilder fought Peter like he did Stiverne 1 I'd give him a more than passable chance to take it on points, or even via late KO if he could get one of his straight right hands right on the button. But he'd need to stay disciplined and make full use of his height, reach and agility to keep Peter at arm's length and unable to launch shots of his own. Not sure if Wilder has that in him, but he at least showed it once in his career so I'm willing to entertain the possibility he could do it again.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mean... I cant really argue with it, it is what it is. I could see either guy winning, I just favor Wilder.

I think Wilder could withstand what he would need to, in order to eventually land the shot that changes the fight. If he didnt, and Peters offense beats hjm up and shuts him down, I could see that too.

People just need to keep in mind... Sam Peter is roughly the same dimensions as Stiverne. Both in height and in reach.

As Wilder got more experienced, he got better at reserving his offense and fighting at range, waiting, and eventually finding the target. Do I think 6'2" clubbing Peter will finish a Wilder whose commited to staying at range and is constantly looking to detonate his right hand on target.... Idk if I see that happening. What I absolutely see happening is Wilder landing a skull crushing cross at some point that Sam Peter walks straight into. Does it win the fight for Wilder? Idk, but I tend to lean towards that more than the reverse.

And while Peter had good success against Wlad, and Wlad is obviously superior to Wilder, that doesnt mean everything he did was superior to Wilder. I think Wilders rangier, longer style where hes waiting waiting waiting then explodes, is less prone to being vulnerable to Peter than the more offensive Wlad who, despite his greatness, often looked almost frail at times when strong bulls went on the rampage.

That all being said... theres two different Peters to me. The one that fought Wlad, and the one after Wlad.

The one that fought Wlad really was a beast and it wouldnt really surprise me if he beat many of todays fighters outside of Fury. The one after Wlad is a different one that doesnt make the cut.

But that's all just imo. A Peter (from the Wlad fight) win wouldn't shock me in the least.

Just noticed this thread was made in 2019 before Wilder was whipped by Fury, and people already favored Peter over him.

Peter I'd too heavy handed for Wilder. He took flush big shots that Wilder won't even be able to land.

Like you said it could probably go either way but when it comes to comparisons I think both Wlad and Peter had much more than Beyoncé and Stiverne in my opinion. Please note I say this also as someone who disliked the Klitschko brothers and had gone on record to say condemned prisoners should be forced to watch their fights as punishment particularly Wlad.

Peter moved like his legs were in quicksand and punched like his arms were under water. . Wilder would demolish him.

Fury wouldn't be so committed and focused on being in the best condition of his life if Wilder was that easy to beat.

LOL. You'd be hard pressed to find a single Wilder vs. (Name) thread on this entire site where Wilder wins.

When he does lead in a poll, the 'usual suspects' tend to roll in and tap their brains out until he falls behind.

It's all very scientific and fact based polling. (LOL)

Peter was getting knocked all over the place by Jameel McCline. Wilder has more than enough power to hurt him and put him down.
Yes he did outbox Old Man Toney, but styles make fights. I don't think Peter has the skills to avoid tall man Wilder's right hand all night. Peter is too slow to effective keep the pressure, when two steps is all it takes for Wilder to be really far away.

I agree, a mythical win over Peter would be Wilder's best win. If Peter was around, Wilder wouldn't even take the fight. Wilder was only interested in the easiest fights.

Sam Peter is around. He lost in one round in his last fight. And Wilder is fighting the World Heavyweight Champion for the third time next month.

    Nice post.
