Samuel Peter - Vladimir Virchis for WBC Interim title ?

This fight is going to happen after the Maskaav refuse for second time to fight Peter.
Peter know is going to fight for interim title, he dont want to wait any more ! WBC must give chance to Peter and chances are to fight Virchis, McCall or Rahman.

THis is new WBC rankings :

    Champion : Oleg Maskaev

    1. Samuel Peter ( NABF )
    2. Vladimir Virchis ( EBU )
    3. Oliver McCall ( WBC Intercontinental title )
    4. Hasim Rahman ( NABF Interim title)
    5. Juan Carlos Gomes ( Latino WBC title )

Who do you think of this fightters will get chance ?

Probably the WBC will suggest/mandate Peter fight Virchis,
if that fight will not happen for some reasons then,

I imagine peter's management would be keen on Peter fighting Rahman because he looked so poor in his last fight, but also McCall because he's old and a known quantity, that being said I doubt Rahman's management would want the fight without more tuneups, and McCall is higher ranked and would jump at the chance of a title shot.

Virchis is the highest ranked contender, so he'll fight Peter apparently.

I don't know why McCall isn't the highest ranked contender. :huh Wasn't the fight against Sam a title eliminator?

How good is Virchis' Chin? Never seen him fight. Does he have power? I know he is a big guy but does he have any skill or is he just a big lug like a Primo Carnera?

He's clumsier than Carnera (who is actually rather underrated skill-wise), and definitely a big lug. Minimal boxing skills from what I have seen of him.

However, he has a very strong chin and a massive punch, so that rather evens it out. EBU champion as well, so at least relatively deserving.

Yes, Virchis would disappoint anyone that is looking for boxing skills in a heavyweight. But sluggers are always needed to flavour a weight division (and now that Brewster is gone, the HW division needs a slugger) and Virchis perfectly adjusts to the role. In the Serin fight he shows some average blocking skills...at least his defense is better than Brewster's. Virchis is a slow fighter that goes forward, he's big and has good power. He presented more problems to Chagaev than Ruiz. Also, he doesn't come in bad shape to fights.

I actualy read some reports from people that watched his last fight with Vidoz and the common notice was that Virchis has slightly improved, especially his defense.

This is good to hear. Perhaps he'll be ready for Peter after all.

What are the reasons Maskaav refuse to fight Peter again?

Just read on Russian news that Maskaev indeed refused to sign to fight Peter due to unfair split of 55/45 of the $3.2 mil purse. According to Maskaev's team he is willing to fight Peter but only if the split is a standard one which is 70/30. Peter's team is threatning to sue Maskaev.

Peter would be pissed off if he agree to fight Virchis for interim title
and at the same time Vitaly sign with Maskaev for regular title.
