Aguilera just ko'ed Maskaev so he probably is a step up from the guys he's been beating lately. Staying active is a great move for Peter but yeah, he needs to fight someone significant soon. Peter is still a top ten heavyweight and has solid name value so I'm sure landing a meaningful fight shouldn't be too hard.

I'm actually happy about this for both fighters. This is a good one to make. Both guys have something to gain and something to lose.

  5. Peter can still be a top 10 heavyweight. He just can't mess with the top 5.

How is this an IBF eliminator??? I see Aguilera is ranked #12 by the IBF (I guess KO'ing a shot Maskaev gets you a ranking these days).....but there's plenty of others that are more deserving of an eliminator.

On the good side, Povetkin finally gets bumped since he's been sitting on his chance since winning his eliminator.

Only question I have is, why not make Peter vs Povetkin? It would be a much better fight all around!

Because Povetkin is too tough for Peter and he would likely lose and his management knows this so they are continuing to fight lower level contenders.

    :good

Povetkin may have a better chance against Vitali than against Wlad.

But for the IBF an eliminator between Peter and Povetkin makes more sence.

Maybe Povetkin is going to fight for the WBC Mandatory against Austin!

yeah its gonna be austin cause povetkin isnt ready for vitali also!
I am getting tired of team povetkin! But he is more deserving a title shot at this moment than odlanier "all hype" solis

Yeah right. The same Povetkin who has been ducking Wlad for the last year and a half? Povetkins chin is weak, thats why his management team has kept him away from the heavy hitters of the division. His best wins are over feather fisted fighters like Chambers, Bryd, and Donald.

Peter is fighting low caliber oppenents lately, but that still doesn't mean he lost his extremely heavy hands, which would be enough to lay him out.

I think Povetkin has had his shot waiting for him for quite some time, Povetkin keeps declining, opting to fight cream puffs who aren't helping him develop his skills. After his last fight, Teddy Atlas avoided any thought of putting him in against Klitschko anytime soon. He's ducked Klitschko long enough. He ducked a fight against Dimitrenko and now Sam Peter is too risky for him? Time to step out of the way.

Don't think we'll see Vitali / Povetkin either. Vitali is reportedly close to signing a fight against Valuev. Valuevs manager said they had agreed to a 70/30 purse split. Should be a good payday, then he can cash out his rematch clause against Haye if he still has the title, and then retire.

Peter has not KOed anyone the caliber of Povetkin his power is way overrated. Povetkin would thrash Peter. Peter has no skills. None.
