For me this is a pretty tough one to call.....I'm leaning towards Valuev mainly based by his last performance where he showed quite abit of polish...I am just not sure if Valuev can handle the power of Sam Peter

    Your thoughts:think

Valuev's jab was impressive against Lyakovich, if he can maintain that I don't see Peter getting near him. Chagaev beat him with clever boxing, in and out, I don't see Peter being able to replicate that

Plus he won't be able to land his trademark shot, the rabbit punch

Based on their last performance respectively, I see Valuev winning a clear decision.

stamina: Valuev seems to be never run out of fuel - Peter was heavily breathing after just 6 rounds vs. Maskaev

athleticism: this is the best weapon vs. Valuev and Peter definately hasn't got a good one

jab: if Peter got athleticism, he could establish his jab very well but without he is just to short to do so - Valuev would have a clear advantage in this field

power: Valuev might be easy to hit by punchers who can release fast punches but Peter would need to fall into the giant plus he needs to punch way upwards; he's also not good enough to let go on the inside like Ruiz did vs Valuev.

You know what... I would love to see this fight. I honestly think Valuev could keep Peter off with his jab and win by late stoppage or on a points decision. Without a doubt Valuev would be the underdog though.

Valuev's excellent jab would probably be the decisive factor in that fight.
    Valuev by wide point decision.

Valuev's size and jab would pose a lot of problems for the Peter that fought Maskaev. He wouldn't be able to outjab Valuev and while he has gotten away with fighting in spurts, he wouldn't here because Valuev keeps up a higher workrate. Unless Peter gets himself into better shape and shows me he can consistently pressure in an effective manner, I'll have to bet against him in this one.

    Valouev by TKO or KO!!!!!!!

Valouev is a much better boxer than Peter and his chin is extremely solid. Valouev can go 12 rounds, looks as good in the 12th as he does early. Valouev's jab, is excellent, he has underrated power, on Peter Valouev will have no problem landing his power punches or his jab. In his next fight Valouev will be even better. He works extremley hard in the gym. Valouev is 7 feet 2 inches tall, so Peter will have a real problem landing his favorite punch behind the head, plus, if Peter can't hurt McCline or stop an old middleweight Toney, then he will not be able to hurt Valouev, and Valouev weights only 321 - 330 lbs. so he would outweight Peter by a lot, yet he is not carrying the fat that Peter is. Don King will not allow this fight though.

I had to think about it for a little bit but I think Sammy takes it.

Valuev doesn't hit particularly hard and wins more or less on his size. He plods, so he wouldn't be hard to find. Everyone who has fought him has found his chin. As well as his gigantic frame.

Sammy has shown good ability to jab his way to victory and scoring late with clean right hands and controlling the pace.

The huge size advantage would likely cancel out on the fact that Valuev being so big would have to really spend alot of time punching to keep Sam off of him. And now that Sam stays low, the giant would have to spend a lot of time punching downward, leaving himself open to counters.

Like the Vitlay fight, I don't see any knockouts here. Both guys take a really good shot although if Sam lands that overhand right flush like Larry Donald did, Valuev might go down for the first time in his career. He WAS hurt by Donald on that punch.

I watched the Lyakhovich fight. All in all, what do you see as similarities between Lyakhvoich and Sam Peter? As far as I can see they have little in common.

Lyakhovich is a taller more available guy. The dropped right hand will work better on him. Sam is only 6'1, so if he wants to he can get real low. He also bends at the waist more than Lyakhovich does. Even though Lyakhovich is shorter than Valuev, he fights tall. For that reason a dropped right hand won't land as easily on Sam. Plus he slips some right hands and if he can slip Maskaev's right he can surely slip Valuev's right.

Don said in an interview that he would love to match Valuev with Peter if both hold a title...
