It's weird how you remember when you found something out. There was no internet or more than 3 chanels to check. Just heard it on the 11 o clock news. A simpler world. Better more often much cheaper boxing. And greater 15 rounds champions. I ask anyone of age who was a boxing fan back on August 12, 1982 to deny my last claim. Viva Salvador Sanchez! Can't believe 36 go by so fast.

I wasn't into boxing until 1983 but the magazines I'd read at that time recounted all those details, freezing him in time somehow. From that day forward, he was immortal.

I don't really remember how I heard it, But I was deeply saddened, I still feel bad about it, such a young kid and a great talent. A good boy. I first saw him in the first bout with Lopez and was hooked. Smooth boxer, and I was a Lopez fan!!!

I remember where I first heard the news of Salvador dying, and couldn't believe it at first. Great fighter, but at best, probably a two division champ if he kept fighting.
