Maybe I am being to harsh but I really find it difficult to rank or view ODLH as an all time great rather I see him as a taletented fighter who was very good.

 

No I don't. Actually he was extremely well matched fighting guys who were outgunnedd and had good names on the way up and in the lighter weight divisions. They fought Jimmy Bredahl for the title at 130 pounds and refused to take on the great Azumah Nelson because they would not risk their investment being ruined. It was when he started fighting tue 50/50 fights or 55/45 fights his true level was exposed.

And the lightweight I wanted to see him fight was Nazarov. But HBO was protecting their investments. I'm 100% certain that if they thought Gussie was nothing and an easy win, the match gets made. He was evaluated differently and no fight.

 

Maybe Oscar can go over Holmes in a list of atg standings, but for the record i just want to say that Holmes is a much better fighter.
