I was wondering why Kampmann wouldn't throw a headkick. There was a point in round 3 where Diego had his hands down and I was just like "lure him in and give him a ****ing head kick, you're a kickboxer." He really does need to change his gameplan up.
Martin seems to have it all skill wise Diego was made for eating a hook or a knee or whatever on the way in but he just seemed content to jab and not even follow up
No he doesnt. Hes not the best striker, Rogan just hyped him up to be one way back and its been exposed now that hes just ok. Hes the typical MMA player in the Rich Franklin mold.
I agree, Diego is there for the taking if Kampmann could see what he had to do. But Martin was there to throw hands....nothing else.
Gotta agree with most of what's being said. Even if you think Kampmann won the fight, he left it in doubt after a very good first round. He let Diego back into it, and Sanchez appeared the aggressor in the last 2 rounds, even if he wasn't necessarily landing the cleanest shots. No controversy here.
If I agree with you then were both wrong. Kampmans got all the skills in the world. Maybe you should say most skillful gatekeeper of all.
It's not a robbery but I definitely disagree with the decision. Diego may have been the aggressor, but I think the fact that he couldn't take Kampmann down to save his life in the first two shows that Martin had the better octagon control. Martin's blows were crisper in the first and the second. Meh.
I really thought Diego could have done better if he'd initiated more exchanges. Kampmann has better technique standing, and Diego was like 1 for 30 on the takedown attempts. Even when he took Kampmann down, the fight went right back to standing. Diego has the better chin, and better speed. That's the only area he could beat Kampmann in, that is where he scored his points, and I think he should have done it even more.
