    Not a chance.

If Sanchez won he'd Decision Arguello over 15 likely. If Arguello won it's possible he stops Sanchez, but he could also win the later rounds.

Sanchez is a very slick, skilled counter-puncher and overall boxer. Arguello is a timing, stalking, methodical boxer/puncher. Excellent variety in his combinations, always incorporates strong body work, even when an opponent is hurt to the head. Very intelligent, textbook boxer with a great reach and great power to go with his accuracy and timing. Sanchez would likely outbox Arguello for the first 8 rounds or so before Arguello starts to really catch his stride and time his big shots better, likely winning rounds on punishment and possible dropping or hurting Sanchez at times down the stretch. Arguello would find himself vulnerable throughout this all too, though, as Sanchez was great in those situations also.

I'd say it's a close Decision either way, I'll stick with Arguello, 8-7 over 15.

Excellent Post as usual! You know El Flaco Explosivo is my all time favorite! I see it pretty much the same as you except for a slight variation. I think arguello needs the KO going into ???? round 14??? and he pulls it off.

Sanchez was great, but there's no chance he'd stop Alex. Zero chance. Look what it took to finally stop Alex at Jr. Welter.

Alex was one of the great featherweights of all time so let them meet at 126. Alex wins a tough, bruising decision. We're talking Fighting Harada/Eder Jofre kind of action here.

Actually Alexis was a bit green at 126, a bit past it at 135, and starting to fade at 140. At 130 he is arguably the best ever. At 130 there are damn few that even belong in a conversation about him.

I'm leaning ever so slightly towards Sanchez and his counterpunching wizardry in this one. I think he also had just enough pop to affect Arguello, even if he didn't hit hard enough to stop him. I give Sanchez the nod on a very close decision, racking up rounds early and lasting the distance.

    Sanchez counterpunches to victory!

As biased as I may seem, Arguello is one of my favorite 10 fighters of all time.

at 130 you counting on sanchez carrying his full skillset to the next weight, against a fighter who is arguably the best 130 ever. i can see sanchez starting out well but come round 11 el flaco begins to impose his will. i see alexis very close decision, possible 14-15 ko.
and that is no slight to sanchez, el flaco was just that damn good at 130.

This would have been an incredible fight..no doubt about it. It would have been close and could have gone either way. Im seeing a possible trilogy with Sanchez winning two outta the three.

a close fight with arguello perhaps edging a bit. But it is highly possible he stops sanchez..

I have a VERY high opinion of sanchez, but it took him 13 and then 14 rounds to put Danny Lopez away. Arguello at 130 was WAY better than Lopez at 126. No way Sal wins 2 out of 3:bart

Lopez was quite a fighter, with a great heart and a HUGE punch, not to mention had a habit of turning the tide quickly if ever hurt himself. Always a threat, and Sanchez gave him very impressive boxing lessons, sometimes opting to slug it out.

But still, you guys have heard my prediction.

On my list of all time favorites Danny is number two, 2nd only to Arguello. Danny actually did better in the rematch, but it wasn't enough. When Sal beat him the first time I was shocked, just SHOCKED.:yikes
