I'm not to fond of cross era match ups, but I'm quite curious how this would pan out over 15 rounds.

Pep on a comfortable 15 round decision. Sanchez would shine against sluggers (Lopez, Gomez, LaPorte, etc.) where his counter-punching skills would prevail. But would have problems against boxers like Castillo, Ford, Cowdell - eking by on close decisions. Although Pep would never hurt Sanchez who posessed a granite jaw, I see him winning comfortably.

Though Sanchez would have his moments and rounds won, Willy would largely stay a step ahead of him the whole bout to win clearly.

Agreed. Sanchez fights furiously down the stretch and Pep has some anxious moments in the championship rounds, but Pep takes the decision, 10-5 in rounds or thereabouts. Too much movement. I think Pedroza is a tougher fight for Pep.

I think Sanchez could give Pep life and death in a fight. Good footwork, concise punching, good body attack, incredible stamina. It's close for me...actually lean towards Sanchez a bit.

Sad we never really saw a peak Sanchez....one that really beats all comers significantly back to back to back. (Like Pep going 134-1-4).

Pep by close decision in a 15 rd fight.

Sanchez might beat Darcy, but Greb? Hell no.

Pep by like 9-6, Sal has him moments, but Willie prevails.

I love Sanchez and I would pick him over almost any featherweight but this is Willie Pep. I believe Pep probably some fighters similar to Salvador Sanchez in those vicious 40s. I doubt Sanchez faced anyone close to Pep. Maybe the greatest boxer of alltime.
