I will readily admit I am no expert on Sanchez, although I have seen several of his fights, so correct me if I'm wrong on anything. I would think Sanchez's best fights were the big names he fought like Lopez, Gomez, Nelson, and LaPorte. Of course, your best win also not necessarily always your best performance.
I would have to say that Salvador Sanchez title winning victory over Danny Little Red Lopez on Feb 2 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona, TKO 13. Sanchez was flawless, perfect timing.
I've got to go for the Gomez fight. Sanchez wasn't supposed to win that one. It was probably the only defense where that was the case. And Sanchez was so keyed up, so ON, he looked amazing. He was great in the Lopez fights, too. Especially the first one where he came out of nowhere and TKO'd the popular Little Red.
Of the Sanchez fights I've seen, I'd say his greatest peformance was indeed against Little Red in their first fight, but his greatest win (and another phenomenal performance) was against Gomez. I wouldn't disagree strongly if people thought Gomez was his best performance too.
In the two fights he was supposed to lose - Lopez and Gomez. He really showed up and gave his best performances.
I love the Gomez fight. The atmosphere in the ring was electric. Sal had this energy that was legendary. He knew he was gonna win and his expression like it was Xmas morning. It was his time. He was happy.
The way he dismantled Gomez was unbelievable and was probably the best I've seen him. But of course the performance against Azumah Nelson will always stick out due to how he was able to close the show on such a young and skilled Nelson.
the two lopez fights and the gomez fights were great but Nelson actually tested sanchez and even looked like he might of stole the momentum at times so I'd say Nelson was probably his best fight
I was hoping Little Red would stop jabbing. Seeing him get drilled everytime was giving me a headache.
