I was just looking at all the big fights being made for this year, which gives me much pleasure. Then I thought hey now, if there was only one champion in each division, how big would these other fights be? Would we even know who these guys are?
If extra sanctioning bodies bring more championship fights, doesn't that help boxing, more big fights?
Even as I wish that we had less divisions and only one champ per division, it does seem that we have more boxing matches have our attention than ever, which shouls be good, right?
Just a thought, I could be way off. This year is looking pretty damn good though!

You would see the big fights, no question.

The best would have to fight the best in order to be considered #2 - so much less ducking or cherry picking.

There would also be no hypejobs or overprotected fighters at the top level.

Frank Warren would be well and truly screwed.

One sanctioning body, one title per division, one champ. We would still see the big fights as the top 10 in each division will be fighting each other to get that mandatory slot to take on the champ. Eveyone wins :yep

No , the fights would still be big involving those who I think you are talking about, people always want to see their man (someone from their part of the world) and the new up and comer. ABC titles mean, sweet FA. While they are also the biggest reason why boxing has lost so much attension. When I talk to my family and friends about boxing, they always say they don't mind a good fight, but how the fcuk can there be two, three, four, five world champions in one division. They just want to see the best.

The only thing the sanctioning bodies are good for is handing out belts. Sadly this is beneficial to the promoters who are able to pretend that beltholder they are promoting is a "champion."
