Belts/trinkets don't mean sheeet thats why Floyd doesn't care if he has them or not. Even in this day and age you have bums like Sams Solimans winning belts. They're a complete joke.

You're right on all points, Peppermint. The sanctioning bodies get tons of money for doing nothing.

I hope Al Haymon succeeds in throwing these parasites out the window, so they can go get a job.

I thought it was usually just 1% of the purse, but if you say 3 I'll trust you.

My thoughts: When a fighter picks up one of the major belts and is recognized as a legitimate claimant his purse figures usually go up quite a bit. There is a substantial profit motive for the fighters to seek those organizations legitimacy which far outweighs anything they pay in sanctioning fees.

I'm also pretty sure that the officials regulate the sport like they say. They are the cops and judges of the boxing world ensuring that fights are safe and fair. They decide if a fighter is unfit to fight, or if he has broken a rule that gives him an unfair advantage and what should be the penalty. They might even handle some of the business side of things to make sure that people aren't being exploited.

Which is why Floyd is always draping them over his body and having his picture taken with them. You don't think those belts and how many of them he's won have anything to do with how successful he's been or the prices he's able to charge for his fights? Those belts are a license to print money. The more belts you got the more money you print. Ya dig?

Maybe in a few years it'll be the Pepsi belt or the Budweiser Jock Strap or whatever, it'd make more than 200 grand.

Roy Jones held 6 belts simutainiously, at one point.

    WBFederation World light heavyweight title
    WBC World light heavyweight title
    IBF World light heavyweight title
WBA Super World light heavyweight title
International Boxing Organization World light heavyweight title International Boxing Association light heavyweight title

I dont think he ever walked away with more than 50% of his purse after it was all said and done. 30%tax, 10% sanctioning fees, 10% trainer, 10% manager.

Well boxers can have the fight in Ukraine with their government. Manny should stay and fight in his country if he dislikes paying US taxes or Las Vegas.

He's the typical Pac fan who will play the race card if you say anything remotely negative about philipinos. That guy always stereotypes and :| when it's about them.
