Thanks, Hans, for your brilliant argument on why that is the case. You're excellent use of a smilie really proved your point. As I've shown above, though, it is very close when looking rationally at their records in comparison and their primary mutual achievements.
I have no problem with modern fighters, its just really not close. We're not talking about anything h2h just pure resume. On that Sanders doesn't come close. And you cab bring up Ali avenging his defeat, but all fights were close and there are many who believe Norton won all 3. Personally I think he won 2 out of 3. But the fact remains Sanders never beat a top ten fighter before or after Wlad.
As far as the Ali fights, yeah some people think he won all 3, but some thought he lost all three. Fact is, he never won decisively while Sanders did over WK. KN's next best accomplishment was his close fight with LH, which I noted in my initial post is comparable with (and imo less impressive than) CS fight with VK. You're right about the top 10 fighter hurting CS, but considering how poor KN's record was against them, its not exactly a big distinguishing feature. There's little doubt that Sanders would have done as good or better against other top 20's as KN. He didn't, so his resume is lesser, but not by much. And it's not as if Sanders fought no one besides the K's, he had an excellent record and beat a host of top 25-50 guys. Norton doesn't rely on his (mediocre at best) record against other top 10 guys for his resume, its his performance against Ali and Holmes. Sanders's resume on that most important feature is as good or better.
