A pair of EBU titles at stake in the co-mains.

After this bout starting momentarily I believe just the co-mains.

Martín and Hughes ring walks I'd put at 5pm EST, maybe a tad after.

González is a former IBO super lightweight champion, whose last three losses dating back five years have all been to unbeaten prospects from various international locales.

"Maravilla" Alonso, previously undefeated, in July he challenged Alberto Puello Calderón for the interim WBA title at 140lbs and lost a narrow decision.

Ugh, both guys have similar complexions, stances, builds, haircuts, and even trunk colors. :shakehead:

Alonso has the silvery-white horizontal stripe across the buttocks of his black shorts, and more tattoos. González has the silvery-white stripes down his thighs instead, and slightly more facial stubble.

Huge counter uppercut by González, splitting the guard from beneath, hurts Alonso very badly just before the bell to end round 2.

The commentators (Nick Halling and Alex Arthur) aren't convinced it was enough to steal him the round, as Alonso had boxed well on the backfoot for most of it, but they think it might have changed the tenor of the fight.

Another interesting parallel with these guys, aside from the striking (and initially frustrating, for identification purposes) visual ones:

Both were born in the Western hemisphere, in Latin America, but now reside in Europe (specifically the Mediterranean).

Alonso's brithplace was the Dominican Republic and he is now a naturalized Spaniard.

González hails from Venezuela but now calls Italy home.

Gonzo went down in round 4, seemed to complain of a head clash...not exactly sure what happened as the library I am (was) in seems to have received a bomb threat and been evacuated.
