Artur Kyshenko, a crossover from kickboxing, originally Ukrainian but now residing in Cataluña, Spain, made his pro boxing debut on the undercard. He took a 6-round unanimous decision over Colombian glass cannon journeyman Deibis Jose Berrocal Yepes. Zero knockdowns.

Never mind, Soma - they just did a full undercard recap on DAZN. Alonso won on points (but Gonzo thought he deserved it; Halling & Arthur think he's delusional)

Slow motion replays of Avanesyan in beast mode. That was a really pretty offensive display, tbh, I wouldn't mind watching it from a bunch of different angles.

    ...hey, they obliged! :D

    Martín out to "Beat It".

A somehow decidedly less butch selection than Avanesyan prancing out to Freddie Mercury's dulcet tones. :sisi1

Huge pop for "Arassandor" Martín when introduced (born & bred in Cataluña)

    Round 1

Martín is jabbing the body of Hughes from outside with his right, just kneading lightly, getting in touches and keeping a sizable distance, leaning outward to his left. Hughes is meeting the jab halfway now, shooting his left out to meet it on a shallow decline. Hughes keeps the right cocked & ready, but obviously with its congenital shortness that weapon, usually considered the best strategy to keep southpaws honest, won't be much of a factor. :ohno Lots of fencing with the jabs in the final minute, both keeping the other neutralized. The champ edges the frame overall due to his body jabs early, very cautious and uneventful opener.

    10-9 Martín

    Round 2

Martín is jabbing from outside, alternately low and high, and then receding just as Hughes counters with a charging stiff double jab or a high left hook off the first jab. Hughes unable to close the gap and scratch Martín with anything. No active use of the right hand yet. Hughes runs in with a jab and Martín ducks it, countering with a left uppercut on the chin before ducking again to bob outside and reset. Martín waiting outside, reaching out with the right jab, painting the air between them with it, stirring an invisible pot with an extended wand-waving jab-feint, then abruptly shooting a left hand lead into Hughes' face or the flat of his stomach. Very good work by Martín, although Hughes isn't offering much resistance and seems unsure how to proceed with the Catalonian's height and reach advantages. Left hand, right hook, left hand from outside by Martín.

    10-9 Martín

    20-18 Martín

The speed differential is crazy, Hughes might not have a chance here.

Honestly how did Hughes do so well in his career being basically one armed? It's a miracle and I couldn't be prouder of the guy for beating the odds like that.

Yeah, as hard as I'm rooting for him I think we might have a shutout brewing, or near enough. :shakehead:

The way he reacted to that right hook, maybe a first stoppage loss.

    Round 3

Martín is pushed into the ropes as Hughes drives into him with a series of hard overhand left hooks. Martín looks momentarily uncomfortable, blinking in surprise at the heftiness of some of those hooks (even when only grazing or partially blocked). Martín starts boxing on the outside, darting in and out with jabs with a devil-may-care low guard, and gets clipped with a chopping left hook counter on the jaw, and backs off quickly. Martín tries lining up his left hand lead, but Hughes is ducking and weaving in, slapping down Martín's jabs with his left glove and getting himself into range to actually plug that right hand into the chest & chin a few times! Good for you, Joe!

    10-9 Hughes, very close

    29-28 Martín
