Sandy Saddler knocked both Willie Pep and Joe Brown OUT COLD!

Saddler's style was almost offensive to watch.UNdeniably a great fighter, but by far my least favourite to actually view in action.

 

Now that was mugging.

 

Saddler has a lot of quality wins outside of the Pep fights. He was a monster on the inside tying up his opponent, holding and hitting and had a huge left hook and uppercut which used to do serious damage. Not the most glamour in the ring but extremely effective.

Pep was the better fighter, he even handled most opponents better. The one fight Pep fought his fight he dominated Saddler. Thing is both of them got into a brawl and Eye thumbing, tripping, ball kicking, laces. Sandy was also more close to prime, Pep already survived the plane crash.....Pep was better but Sandy was great

 

A 5 foot 8 featherweight who had a cast iron chin, strong on the inside and hit like a middleweight the guy was a freak of nature! i dont see many featherweights being able to handle a prime sandy, before i forget he also like to but and elbow

 

i remember them sparring in the 70's for charity.
zale and graziano sparred too and there wasn't much love lost in either sessions:twisted:

 

evil style. though unskilled in boxing technicality, his enveloping style was frustrating to work out. specially with one of the greatest defencive fighters of all time falling apart. which leads to my question. did he actually knock pep cold though he was beaten up and stopped but i dont know about "out".

 

Yo, Sandler was a bad mofo.

 

Was sure Pep was stop in his fights vs Saddler or quit.

Dont recall him being outcold.

 

Pep was down for the full count in the first fight.

 

Pep was legit out against Saddler in the first fight I believe. Saddler went onto say that the could have "counted to hundred".

It's always been a bit of a shame in my view that the first and second Saddler-Pep bouts, the most important of the four fight rivalry, were never filmed. We only have the third and fourth fights which are both foul-filled contests.

 

Although according to this newspaper, Pep was attempting to get up but obviously in no condition to continue.

I was under the impression that pep won by only a couple of rounds
