Not very well, Saddler had the power ,and strength, to back Barry up ,and he was never effective fighting on the retreat. Saddler by late stoppage, imo
Sandy Sadler MOIDERS McGuigan inside 12 rds of a gruelling fight on the whole, but McGuigan's tender skin rips like toilet tissue and he bleeds like a blood bank... Sadler by TKO:deal MR.BILL:hat
Saddler is one of the most dangerous of the "little men". I think he beats Barry convincingly. Salvador Sanchez against Saddler would have been a GREAT time machine matchup. Also the featherweight version of Arguello would have waged war with Saddler. Those would have been epic battles.
barry was good and i very much enjoyed him...but he wasnt the same calibre as a saddler.....for me mcguigan shouldnt be in the hall of fame, but thats another thread..
Man different class... Barry is game early and competetive for a few rounds but hes outgunned here Sadler ko 8. A better matchup for Mcguigan might be against a Kevin Kelley,Tom Johnson,Jorge Paez caliber fighters... pretty good fighter but far from an atg like Sadler.
Barry would make a good showing for the first few rounds, can't see him doing too well after that. Different class of fighter.
