I'm back @Jason Thomas! When's the last time I posted? Idk. I'd been watching boxing, but life sneaks up on you you know, but I finally got some of these pumped out. It feels good.

    1. This was a fine opener. Although the first minute contained a lot of rabbit and kidney punching (by Saddler mostly), the final two minutes were vicious, with Riley the aggressor, and Saddler on the ropes. Some fine exchanges occurred. It was a good impression my home-state boy was making. Riley.
    2. Riley was going after Saddler with a lot of leaping hooks in this round. At one moment, he pinned Saddler on the ropes for a lengthy amount of time, scoring his best punches. Saddler closed well with some good uppercuts. Another good round in the books. Riley.
    3. I don't know if Saddler was beginning to realize he couldn't succeed in a slugfest with Charley Riley or what, but he began installing his grabbing and manhandling plan. Saddler did manage to throw more in this round. Saddler, unimpressively.
    4. Riley smothered Saddler who tried to push him off. A lot of comely wrestling went on between the two. Even.
    5. A left hook hurt Saddler just a little bit, and Riley had a good flurry. Riley.
    6. After initial mauling, Riley landed a good right hand, a punch that by this point it had become evident he could land with ease as well as hurt Sandy with quite often. While the round started badly, the two scrapped savagely to end it; Saddler was shaken up by the exchange. Riley.
    7. Saddler outpoints Riley by a tad. Saddler.
    8. Saddler began once again to box, as in round 7, winning of the jab primarily. A lot of grappling :(. Saddler.
    9. UNIMPRESSED. Even.
    10. Riley tried to recreate the success of some of the earlier rounds, but just didn't get it. Saddler kept him in control on the inside. Riley.

Final score: 5-3-2 for Riley. No way Saddler won this fight. That was totally wrong.

Verdict: What started out as a promising scrap ended very disappointingly. The first two rounds were unusually fast for any bout regardless of weight, and Sandy threw it away with his spoiling tactics, and the action after round 2 was very sparse. No question about it, SKIP THIS ONE.

I’ll catch this later as I’m a total Saddler fan.

No emphasis here and I can still hear the sarcasm.

Saddler was one of the dirtiest boxers in history.

Saddler is the greatest featherweight in boxing history. He dominated Pep. People like to make excuses for Willie but facts are facts. No sarcasm intended.

(And I’m sure you mis-scored the fight if you didn’t have Sandy winning.)

Wow. Ok. I am a bit surprised to hear someone backing Saddler. He seems so unpopular here on the forum.

I don't believe I did. Saddler grabbed and mauled his way through the fight for the most part. I would like to hear your score, but I was too bored to give it a second watch.

@William Walker , I scored this a few months back and I did have it differently than you. Also, I actually enjoyed the fight. Probably because I am a fan of Riley's style. I also liked Curtis Parker and Frankie Warren. Both who employed Charley's swarming style. I checked the history on this fight and I did see @SweetScience also scored this fight. He had the same score as I did, only I had the 4th Even, which he gave to Saddler and I gave the 10th to Saddler which he had Even. Anyways, we all see things differently and it doesn't mean any one of us is right or wrong. We're just not all in lockstep with one another. This is how I scored it and what I wrote, for what it's worth.

I watched the 1950 non-title 10 rounder today between champ Sandy Saddler and Chillin Charley Riley. A good 10 rounder, but I have no idea how this St. Louis, Mo. scoring system works, however, so I will score in rounds.

    Round 1: Riley
    Round 2: Riley
    Round 3: Saddler
    Round 4: Even
    Round 5: Saddler
    Round 6: Riley
    Round 7: Saddler
    Round 8: Saddler
    Round 9: Saddler
    Round 10: Saddler

    Total: 6-3-1 Saddler

Official scores were 53-47 and 56-44, both for Saddler and 50-50 for a majority decision win for Saddler. Riley started so fast keeping Saddler's back to the ropes and pounding away. But that took a lot of energy and once Saddler moved the fight to the middle of the ring he took over. Even his infighting improved once he was utilizing those uppercuts that Riley couldn't match. Charley kept it competitive the whole way, however, and it was an enjoyable fight. I wish I could figure out Missouri scoring though.

I should add that the reason I thought it was a bad fight was entirely because of Saddler. Riley kept trying to make a fight of it for the bout's duration, and did for a couple of rounds, but Saddler's much taller size prevented him from doing so.

I was kidding on the scoring, because if you didn’t score it for one of my favorite fighters you must have gotten it wrong (g)

Enjoyed the fight. Here is my scoring for what it is worth:
    1-----Riley
    2-----Riley
    3-----Saddler
    4-----Saddler
    5-----Even
    6-----Riley
    7-----Saddler
    8-----Saddler
    9-----Saddler
    10----Saddler

On that 10 point must system, if I understand it, I think this comes out to 53 to 47 for Saddler

Saddler has an ugly style, but that left is nasty. Riley fought in spurts, but Saddler was steadily banging away. Saddler kept off the ropes most of the time after the second and the fight turned.

    Thanks for posting.
