Don't get me wrong, the kid is tough, fundamentally sound, and a hard worker but I just don't see anything special. He's not particularly fleet of foot, is a volume puncher (as opposed to a classic power puncher) and has rather ordinary hand speed.

Rigo, in my opinion, beats him easily and I haven't seen a thing to suggest he is out of Frampton's league.

    Am I missing something here?

Rigo would work him but it'd at least be a good fight.

I was much higher on Santa Cruz before his last fight. Hopefully just a night off but he didn't look good at all.

I agree, most of his opponents have stood in front of him like a heavybag.

Funnily enough, I'm actually MORE impressed with LSC after his last fight. I thought he had to adapt and move away from simple short range volume punching in order it cope with a very tricky opponent.

But he badly needs to face a real threat. All his opponents are too old, too limited, too shopworn, and too small.

He will be in for a rude awakening when he finally does step up and face a live body. Such as (cough, cough) Carl Frampton....

Well, no offense, but is that because you didn't really know much about Seda?

He gave Narvaez fits, at least relative to most other challengers, and back when he lost that one he looked well on his way to eventually become champ. He's no pushover for anyone. Rigo, Frampton, Kiko - none of the champs have an easy time with him, I don't think. (although I wouldn't go as far as to favor him, it would still be an upset over any of them...just not earth-shattering...)

    IB,

Fair points all. Moreover I don't think one has to be a "slickster" to be effective. I think that his fundamentals will serve him well.

However for people to be so high on him--I have read posters claiming he is leagues above Frampton and would severely test Rigo-- I want to see a fighter with some A+ physical tools. I don't see any (ie handspeed, foot speed, foot work, punching power).

I am also dubious about your claim that he possesses one punch power but opts to land quantity over quality. I've seen the kid sit down on his punches early in fights.
