Antonio Pitalua KOs Jose Armando Santa Cruz!

Now several news sources say that the winner is mandated to face unbeaten KO artist Edwin Valero before the end of the year. Valero vacated his WBA SFW belt (the one Jorge Linares is looking for now as he moves up for FW) so he could compete at 135. Of course as many, Edwin is after the Manny Pacquiao superfight. But he has to beat the Colombian hard puncher Pitalua first.

This could be a superb war between huge punchers!

If Edwin wants to play with the big guys, he has to get past this Pitalua guy. If he does he should go for a bigger fight. Somehow i think Valero - Katsidis would be fun.

Should Valero manage to fight on US soil again, I would like a Juarez-Valero tiff. I'd pick Rocky by mid-rounds KO.

Valero just moved up from 130 to 135,it would be outrageous to fight Rocky who is more a 126 fighter than a 130 fighter

Wow, did anybody see this one? I'm a fan of Santa Cruz, kind of surprised he lost.

Not surprising at all to me. Santa Cruz is a decent fighter, but not world class. Plus he's always been on the chinny side. I think his performance against an uninterested Casamayor led people to believe he was better than he actually was.

Its his chin and the fact he tends not to consistently protect it properly that lets him down. Very handy fighter otherwise.

I think Valero would have mowed him down anyway. Even though the Pitalua fight isnt what everyone wanted or expected, it still should be fireworks for a few rounds.

I don't think that Santa Cruz has chin issues ... but he doesn't have that Judah disease ... he can start off strong but then fade after the 6th round.

Santa Cruz does have chin issues when caught at the right time.. he wobbles prettybad.. as was evident against David Diaz..

And Cherry, Murphy and now Pitalua.

Plus I remember seeing film of him getting badly hurt in a undercard fight against another mexican, cant remember who though.
