Seems to be one of the least oft mentioned top notch fighters on here, in fact I've heard nothing of him on here despite being one of the best Flyweights of a very good era, holding wins over Roman, Zapata, Betulio Gonzalez, etc while showing good longevity and consistency for a lower weights fighter. I've never seen him on film, anyone who has care to explain his style? I'll wait for certain posters, as this obviously won't get too many replies.
If you scale Victor Galindez down to Fly/Bantamweight you get Santos Laciar. Same look - Same style. Very strong. Only a few of his fights excists on tape. Woller
I have Laciar's fight with Hilario Zapata. At the very least, I know his 3 fights with Gilberto Roman are taped, as is his second fight with Juan Herrera. RB has all those fights, and a few more to boot I think.
How good does he look vs Zapata? I'll have to purchase a few from B(_)LL as soon as I get my **** sorted out.
I've only watched a few rounds of it so far, so I don't feel qualified to say really. From the few minutes I've seen of it, he looks a pretty good jack of all trades type of fighter. Nothing really outstanding about him, but good fundamentals, likes to get in on the inside and attack the body where his short arms and short height are most effective. Reminds me a little of Salvatore Burruni from what I can tell. Again, this is a preliminary assessment, so I don't feel comfortable categorising him as I have without seeing some more of him.
Woller's take was pretty accurate.Laciar was a typical stocky bullish Argentinian aggressive fighter. One of the better ones. Not as skilled or cagey as Galindez(or Ahumada) though.More of a straight ahead slugger\pressure fighter. I had Hilario beating him by a few points. His draw with Roman is also controversial.
