    So true buddy...I recommend self study..you can listen and learn...like when my instructor does these "slow Russian" vids...you can resort to the English subtitles if you have to...if you get hung up on something,...but just writing down the words, study by rote...and listen over and over to the videos...and you can get there.:)

    Speaking of Russian... have you ever watched a peculiar 1986 Russian comedy called Kin-dza-dza! One of my favorites...

    Japanese of course, is a character based language...and is considered, like Chinese, Arabic and Hebrew to be the most difficult languages...but I don't think you would be troubled by it at all.

    I actually enjoy the language so much most of my favorite cinematic openings are very heavy in Japanese writing. I used to love it as a kid too for some reason, I'd always gravitate towards weird Godzilla and Ultra Man movies with weird subtitles and audio tracks... :lol:

    Used to be an obscure flick but I believe it's freely available for purchase on DVD (finally) and for free on places like Youtube if you wanted to go that route.
