WBA Super and WBC (1st defense of each by Álvarez) super middlweight titles at stake. Yıldırım is the WBC #2 contender, unranked by the WBA, IBF, or WBO.

I heard some commentary somewhere suggesting this is Canelo doing a solid for a former sparring partner he took a liking to. Any truth to that?

Even though this is an awful fight, a part of me is glad that Yildrim is getting his shot. I felt like he got shafted in the Dirrell fight.

    He has no chance though.

I thought the whole point of being a Franchise champion was that you wouldn't have to bother with mandatories but whatever. Canelo finishes him in two.

Avini has decent power and his offense and punch selection is good but whenever his opponents have a decent semblance of footwork and defense he has real issues. Avini's been out of the ring for 2 years coming off a loss. (There's an argument to be made Avini was robbed against Dirrell but mentally coming off a loss and a 2-year layoff against the number one P4P fighter in the sport right now must really have an impact) Canelo will win by stoppage if Avini goes into complete defensive survival mode he might last a few rounds but if he fights like he normally does Canelo will get him out of there in the first 3.

    But what if...an upset happens?
It's 2021 the year started with crazy, it's crazy now, and it might end more crazy than last year.
Yildirim by MD if Canelo looks past him.

I would LMFAO if Yildirim flattens Canelo. It won't happen though because ginger comes in 100% for every fight. He's like a model athlete in that regard.

I like Avni, his is my second favorite Turkish boxer after Bald Bull and you gotta give him credit for fighting Canelo after two years out. Stylistically Yildirim is tailor made for Canelo and Canelo should dispatch him, although I reckon he will take his time and score a TKO around 7-9th round. :chuck:

An independent boxing organisation need to be established to cut out blatant corruption in this sport. How in the **** has a guy who has no decent wins and been out of the ring two years ranked so highly with the WBC and a mandatory challenger. You'd be a fool to believe there isn't any corruption going on.. Corruption collaboration between the two most disgraceful fraudulent entities in boxing: the WBC and Canelo ( +team).
