Canelo the Mexican with Irish hair, or Spike the Irishman with the Mexican style?

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

He was an option as a last minute replacement. Not a real headliner.

I can’t believe you’re actually defending this and comparing it.

Exactly. If anyone else says it’s okay cause GGG was gonna fight him AS A LAST MINUTE REPLACEMENT, clearly is a Clenelo front runner.

A guy like Spike is Canelo's bread n butter. Terrible mismatch. Look back to the Screwbanks fight and watch how easily he was taking uppercuts.

I took the topic at hand as meaning this was already a done deal and it's far better than dragging up
another JMW or WW. If the fight falls, through............again at least there's a contingency plan with
a guy that has more than 2 weeks notice. *shrugs*

I'll never go out of my way to defend Golovkin or Canelo (unless I think something
utterly incorrect is being spouted about them), I'm a fan of neither.
Spike ain't a headliner but what he would be is someone that has performed
on HBO and received favorable reviews for his performance. As for comparing it, Golovkin's own team
seriously considered Spike (late replacement or not), I had no issue. I have no
issue with Canelo fighting Spike if the fight falls through.......again, at least he's a real MW.

He’s not a top MW. He’s not even in the top 10.

    Golovkin should steal his date.

Crazier things have happened. Do I really think Spike would win, not really. But Spike has an excellent left hook and times his opponents fairly well, and if Canelo gets lazy, which he tends to do against opponents like Beefy, he can get tagged clean, and I have a feeling if this fight happens, he won't go in nearly as defensively minded as he was against GGG, and even though its only a slight chance, if he does take the lax approach, he could pay for that big time.

People on here were getting mad when Spike was the frontrunner to face Golovkin, even at short notice ...

I agree it's a fan friendly fight though, same as Golovkin vs Spike.

People will literally believe what they want to believe. It’s quite amusing.

Clenelo won’t get in there with Jacobs or Charlo or any other too dog, so y’all will settle for Spike. Spike was nothing to GGG except a late sub, but Clenelo gets to have him as a headliner.
