Just watched - had it 115-112 Canelo. More effective power punching. Credit to Munguia, though - he may have flaws, but at least he came to win.

I just realized that Canelo is the first man during the four belt era to defend the undisputed title 4 times.

During the end of the 3 belt era, Hopkins defended his WBA, WBC and IBF belts 4 times before unifying with De La Hoya. He only defended his 4 belts 1 time vs Eastman. All together, he defended his undisputed championship 6 times.

Roy Jones defended his WBA, WBC and IBF belts 7 times before moving up to face Ruiz.

    4 Belt title defenses:
    Hopkins - 1
    Oleksandr Usyk - 1
    Josh Taylor - 1
    Devin Haney - 2
    Canelo Alvarez - 4
*Naoya Inoue is attempting his first and is likely to attempt 2 more before moving up in weight.

It´s kinda cool seeing the undisputed championship be defended. Shame two of the defenses have come against guys from neighboring divisions.

114-113 Canelo due the 4th rd KD. Some of the scorecards in this thread are even worse than Canelo's personal judges lol.

What 6 rounds could you possibly justify for Munguia?

He swept the first 3, and you said yourself, he arguably did enough to win several of the last 4.

    I don´t see 6 for him. That´s just ridiculous.

No, it's not ridiculous. Rounds 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 11 you could give to Munguia outright and the 6th was quite close.

Just caught up. Good fight but it felt like the commentators were trying to have us believe that canelo was more in control than he was. I thought much of the fight was competitive and I never had the sense than Mungia was completely out of the fight. Canelo has definitely slowed down quite a lot. Mungia is tough and it would be interesting to see him against Benavidez who I think gets a little over rated on these forums.

Yeah, in schools and hospitals, for example-even in "Americanized" Puerto Rico-they make you say your two names plus your dad and mom's last name, in Latin America.

For example, I was Jeanette Ann Santiago Ringwald to them.-(LOL I wish!!)

After watching the 20th Canelo fight, I am amazed opponents haven't figured out his style better. His offense is all about loading up. Yes, he is very effective countering, but he fights very poorly off his back foot. You can see every time when he is going to go on offense and throw hard punches. The effective strategy is to do what Bivol and Munguia did in much of their respective fights: keep pushing Canelo back with a stiff jab. His offensive forays are not even subtle. You can see him shift into offensive mode. The person who beats Canelo will throw a lot of combinations while keeping Canelo off balance. For Canelo to be effective, he has to be balanced and moving forward.

Well he might not of carried him as this was a decent fight but Big Red could of finished him after that uppercut

I agree. I think it is because the fighters of today aren't skilled enough. I think it's also an issue of weight class. Canelo's flat feet were an issue at 154, but at 168, most of those guys also have flat feet.

    Canelo displayed poor stamina again.

I haven't seen the fight yet was it worth watching ? Honestly this maybe a weird opinion but I don't really find many of Canelo fights that exciting.

So if it's the norm of Canelo fighting in spurts winning a wide decision I'll probably give it a miss.
