I like that he’s gutted about having his nose broken and thinks he should have done better. he clearly wasn’t there to fiddle around and survive or to be content with being another plucky loser.

We'll never see Ryan Garcia look like that after a fight; he'd quit long before.

Props to Ryder, Canelo on the downhill slope of his career. Bivol pulverizes him later this year.

Ryder finished his triumphant march (Jacobs, Parker, Canelo) with an inspiring performance in the heart of Mexico, against an unified champion of his division no less.

Having nose injury in the 2nd round while your gameplan is to get your opponent into laters rounds and exploit his worsening stamina.. well that's just bad luck. Lesser nose injuries can throw you off your game, blood running down your throat, difficulty breathing and all.

Another amateur production from DAZN is in the books, and it checked all the usual boxes:

    1. Dreadlocks Diamante and his embarrassing attempts at a dozen different catchphrases.
    2. Dreadlocks having to ask the ref what his name is in the middle of his announcing.
    3. Dreadlocks pausing in the middle of his announcing, having to look at his notes, and having to give direction to the bell ringer.
    4. Mispronouncing people's names from both dreadlocks and the ringside announcers.
    5. Very soft and monotone announcing from the ringside announcers.
    6. Ringside announcers' audio going out intermittently.
    7. The audio engineering is amateur hour. Everything is too quiet and mediocre clarity, and there's no depth to any of the sound.
    8. No acknowledgment by any of the commentators of the suspicious judges' scores on the Spark fight.

The only positive i have to say is that they are getting a little better with the crane cam usage.

I miss HBO boxing. Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant were consummate professionals at calling fights, and did not fear calling out garbage score cards.

Am I the only one that would like to see that fight again? It was crazy how he couldn’t breathe and still was out working Canelo late. That nose injury totally screwed him. Don’t get me wrong the injury was caused by a punch but that fight woulda been really interesting had the injury not happened. Guys got big balls and heart.

Why was there no Michael Buffer again ? He wasn't present at the Joshua Franklin fight either.

Lol, being beaten so hard that your nose is freaking broken in 2 rounds now it is called "bad luck".
And finishing a fight with 100% sure permanent brain damage because he has an outstanding chin that didnt allow his body to disconnect, now it is called "triumphant march" and "inspiring perfomance".

Sometimes your only choice in this forum is to read the comments and laugh.

You talk as if ryder could have taken advantage of a bigger ring. And that's not true.

Don't underestimate Ryder. That is a casual feeling based on his losses, the reality is he fairly clearly won many of his losses against top tier opposition.

This is good win for Canelo and Ryder is a heck of a fighter.

A nose can be broken in a single punch. Means nothing.

Juan Ryder had every possible thing that could've been stacked against him stacked against going into the fight as it was

Fighting a legend like Canelo in his home city in front of 55,000 rabid Clenelo fans

He was making a huge leap up in class

Fighting on a stage of that magnitude for the first time

    Fighting at altitude

In the sweltering heat (he's from my area and I can assure you it's cold and miserable over here most of the time)

And in a shoe box sized ring which robbed him of his slickness and made it much more difficult for him to defend himself

But when Clenelo broke both, not one but both, of his nostrils at the end of round 2 which were bleeding profusely for the rest of the fight (and from his mouth too), it obviously made an already near impossible task a way more difficult one for him.

He displayed incredible heart, bravery and toughness to not only hang in there when he was under enormous mental and physical pressure (and haul himself back up off the canvas after getting dropped) and in great physical discomfort from his injuries where he had been unable to breath through his nose and was swallowing his own blood from round 2, but to actually bite down on his gum shield and take the fight to Clenelo and sweep the final three rounds on my card.

I keep telling you guys British domestic level dust ups are the envy of the boxing world and the good people of Mexico would love tuning into watch the heart and courage our boys routinely display in them and that heart, indomitable warrior spirit and toughness was on full display last night again from Juan ''The Guadalajara Gorilla'' Ryder.

    A single punch.... :risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3:

How do you want a nose to be broken? by insulting the guy?.

Canelo put such a beating on ryder that probably he has permanent brain damage now, and yes, one single punch broke his nose. And another single punch knocked him down. And another single punch wobbled him later and was about to finish him.....

The only reason your boy saw the 12th round is an absoulutely outstanding chin that is no good for his own health.

You can open a thread saying "mike tysons victories mean nothing because a KO in a single punch means nothing".

Sometimes the nuthugging is just ridiculous.
