Expected an execution within 6 rounds but was surprised to see how tough and gutsy Ryder was. He did the best he could and managed to tag Canelo. Good effort from Ryder even if it was a bit one sided.

Hell of an effort and heart by Ryder, him starting to do his best work just when you thought he was done was reminiscent of Gatti.

Canelo’s head movement is just not there anymore. That, and slowing down in the championship rounds is a very bad sign especially when David Benavidez is coming after you.

He’s getting shutout by Bivol. Makes sense for him to want it at 175 as he may as well keep his SMW titles.

I've only seen Canelo taking as much punishment as last night in the first two Golovkin fights, Bivol didn't punish Canelo as much as Ryder, so kudos to the British, who also has a very strong chin, up there with the best, he took an absolute beating from a hard puncher without ever giving up.

Brief HLs of the final round of Gvozdyk vs Botviniks here

It looks to me like Gvozdyk's legs are no longer the same from that brief bit of footage. They look stiff and his he doesn't have that beautiful footwork anymore. Maybe that was not the case in the earlier rounds though but I can definitely see a difference in him there. Still looks good up top though.

Because DAZN is all in on Dreadlocks Diamante and his constant screw-ups, and embarrassing attempts at a dozen different catchphrases.

Worse twelve round wars were waged without nose injury—not to mention the first two rounds were by no means some sort of beatdown.

Earning over a million bucks plus PPV money, leaving your name in the books of boxing history, even if only as a gritty veteran challenger, and knowing that you didn't quit when going through hell?

I reckon it can be considered a great success, especially for Ryder who some fights ago could only be considered old and starving as far as his sport career goes.

Yes, great achievement to be beaten to a pulp, to be knocked down, to be wobbled several times, to get his face's bones broken and to get brain damage.

    Awesome. He can be proud.

Would love to see Clenelo fight Beterbiev. Wonder why he doesn't want to attempt that fight?

And yet you'd be on here mocking him as a quitter if he stayed down after the knockdown. What the ****? You're Mr. Ant-woke in the Lounge, but over here you sound like one of them. What's next? A full blown dismantling of macho pride and toxic masculinity?

Mocking people for quitting is not something that I use to do, tbh. I'm surprised you have said that.

I sound woke because I think that ryder is not at the same level as canelo? :roto2lol: that's weird. I cant see the link.

Maybe you mean that I'm woke because I dont give credit for being beaten?

Being beaten to a pulp is NO achievent. It doesnt make you a better fighter to get brain damage for 12 rounds.

Yes, he has guts, I never denied it.

I said it a couple of days ago too: I give no credit for losing either. Zero credit to Hamed for losing vs Barrera. Losing to Barrera doesnt make Hamed a better fighter. Being beaten to a pulp for 12 rounds without quitting doesnt make a fighter a better fighter.

Pursuing the victory at any cost like provodnikov did, yes. I give credit for that. But ryder didnt pursue the victory at any cost, he just got a beating. And apart from round 12, compared to his fights that I recently watched, ryder became obviously gunshy. No trace of that "steamroll" strategy as soon as he tasted canelo's leather. Ryder is no Provodnikov.

Why are you surprised I said that? Sure, I can understand why people stay down and I don't hold it against them as much as many on here would. But I also greatly value prideful yet self destructive macho impulse of showing the heart of a warrior and walking through hellfire and brimstone, trying to win at any cost. Never for once did he stop thinking he could pull it off, and he was getting to him in the second half of the match more and moe as the rounds went by. It has nothing to do with you thinking or let's say prideful boasting that he's not on the same level as Canelo, get over it, step back and look at what most saw last it. It had everything to do with Ryder earning everyone's love and admiration, and willing to go toe to toe Mexican style in Mexico willing to lay it all on the line even though the odds ere clearly against him, valiantly willing to do out on his shield to get the victory. From now on, he'll forever be known as the beast of a man that all of us fans of his said he was. Sometimes, grit, balls, willpower and heart means more in this sport than skills and even winning, it's certainly something he can be proud of and brag about to his grandchildren. That was his Gatti moment, and that will go down as an iconic moment in history, as opposed to Callum Smith and Caleb Plant's wholly forgettable pisspoor efforts.

"Never for once did he stop thinking he could pull it off"

That's where we dont agree. As soon as he felt canelo's leather he became gunshy. He even started to try to box on the back foot, something that I didnt see in any of the recent fights that I watched the other day in our previous discussion. Not even vs Callum. And the proof that he became gunshy is that the fight became boring, and that in round 12, suddenly, he started to throw everything he didnt throw before. He just could have done it way before, but he didnt because he was gunshy (we all know what would have happened if he had tried to steamroll canelo for 12 rounds, and ryder knew it better than anyone else)

He got a beating, that's all. I see no epic there. Ofc I give credit to fighters like provodnikov, as I said before. But Ryder yesterday was no provodonikov.

No... you're just being a hater, who's going out of your way to not get it and not see what the rest of us saw, just like you were doing before the fight. This is your version of macho pride. Get over it, and admire what he did in there, like everyone else.
