And yes, Santos is his actual first name. His nickname in early childhood (long before Canelo) was Santito.

 

Well, it'd be Santos Álvarez if anything. (Barragán is from his mother's family, and Mexican culture is, maybe we'll be P.C. and rein up short of saying outright sexist, but steeped in papist old world patriarchy to be sure, so the mom's name goes last and counts for less in someone's identity)

... although he's been going by Saúl Álvarez as his "real name" (despite most of the world calling him Canelo) since his teens.
