Suppose he was looking pretty washed from the body shots. I think most probably thought it was going to be less competitive so they gave Billy an extra round here or there

The best shape ever and he still can't fight hard for 8 rounds .

I need to check my eyes again but I think they are both basically the same distance away from whoever stands in front of me

But seriously, um I don't think his eye was all that much shot or damaged at all. I made a post in another thread about his eye that you should check out but in short, I have people with MUCH worse damage and also fully closed eye's fight on for many many rounds until the end of round 12.

BSJ got 1 punch to the eye in round 8 and gave up the fighting spirit at the end of the same round. Yet many have been heavily criticized for doing much much more than what we seen out of BSJ tonight.

For the record, you obviously know who I was supporting before the start of the fight and I guess you also know I really do not like Canelo much at all. So, my criticism of BJS is fair I believe. I am just um really disappointed in him. I expected more.

 

I'm surprised Eubank Jr isn't chasing the shot and retired Degale for another payday.

I don't think it was so much power saving Canelo as it was a big part of the plan in this fight. Against BJS with his sharp feet and angles I think Canelo was always going to throw fewer shots but heavier.

I feel Canelo was able to slow BJS's momentum in rd7 after Bill took 5 and 6. He slowed the tempo down by being more defensively minded. I think he controlled the fight from there.

 

Well on twitter Jr said an hour ago "Canelo if you want a brit to give you a real fight... I'm ready and willing"
