Maybe this belongs in the lounge but as this is the training section thought i would add it in here, If you dont know who the SAS are you have been living under a rock all ur life they are the british special forces and the best in the world in Andy McNabs book (ex SAS) he says that during SAS selection he would go down the pub neck 2 pints of guiness and then have a bag of chips then the next day go for 10 mile which leads me to the question can you still be really fit and eat that sort of **** each night?
I have a mate in the marines and he said during selection that night they were given junk food apparently good for energy
Yes. If your body does not get all it needs it dies. You don't have to give it all it wants. So of course, it is possible.
its possible but not healthy think of heavyweight boxers some any way ive seen bad diets in that area and they are fat but fit
They're not looking to scultp their body into a work of art.. most don't care for proper diets or nutrition. They have to pass selection and not a walk on a catwalk with a 6pack. Alot of A.F.L. footballers, and id guess other codes to, dont especially have strict diets.. not near as strict as most amateur boxers.
Yep.. exactly. They diet to a reasonable degree.. but because they are not goverened by weight restrictions, theyre diet can be pretty lax. Just like it would be for those boxers who dont struggle to make weight id imagine. And yea mate, Melbourne, Victoria. You too?
Obviously you cant do that every night. But in the army or SAS thats a regime that is extremely demanding on your body. Guiness isnt too bad as it contains alot of iron and some protein in minor amounts. (If done our traditional West Indian way its basically a high powered energy drink with tons of protein) The chips is obviously bad carbs and fat. Within a matter of hours and possibly days he would have burnt most of that off and the rest of the rubbish would pass through him. My body doesnt metabolise fish and chips well at all. The last time i had it it gave me gut ache because the fat content was so high and i spent most of the evening on the shitter. If your body has a well trained metabolism as do all members of the army there bodies can assimilate the best parts of that diet quite well. But naturally this kind of diet would have to be sporadic for obvious reasons.
The Marines take in over 5000 calories a day, they have to do this to stand up to the training. A lot of this stuff will be food like bacon, sausages etc. Nobody here can say their diets are bad though, by the time a marine gets through training they're as fit as any professional athlete and fitter than anybody on here.
There is no pass or fail to join the french foreign legion. You could be in any sort of shape and get in. You have to be in very good physical shape to even get in the Marines, once you're in they'll get you to your physical peak, culminating in a 48KM march in full kit which needs to be completed in 8 hours.
