Ryabinsky flew over to US to talk to Haymon directly face to face. Povetkin was there for the ride. He speaks absolutely no English.

All the steroids in the world but deep inside, Povetkin is just a shy fat kid.

He didn't take part in the WWE clownery so he's a beta. Perfect logic for a 10 year old.

Povetkin's team told on themselves. They say that since Wilder took another fight they took a tuneup as well. What does Povetkin need a tuneup for? Doesnt' matter anyways, he'll get the time he needs, Wilder got to stay busy and the fight will happen.

WBC only announced that the mandatory was due in January after Povetkin signed to fight Wach in November. There was need for Povetkin to only have 1 fight in early 2015 and then collect the ring rust and miss a multi-million payday in the second part of the year.

Wilder wasn't even supposed to fight Duhaupas, that fight was granted by the WBC because they asked for it and were lobbying for it. It was supposed to be Wilder vs. Povetkin in Oct/Nov and not Wilder/Duhaupas and Povetkin/Wach.

The January date being "due" was just a manipulation.

Wilder is total fraud, what did he and Haymon do early June after Molina fight? Where were they?

Why did they fight Duhaupas? Why didn't Wilder start negotiating with Povetkin right after Duhaupas fight?

Povetkin's fight with Wach was only a few weeks after that.

He fought less than one round in May.

He couldn't have tuned up in June, July, August or September and then been ready for January? Please.

The straw man lives in this thread: as if the only choices are to act like Fury or be completely silent and sulk away without a word.

Yes, that's the way of the beta.

He didn't have to get in the ring and grab a mic and make a show for Showtime. He could have stood outside the ring and held court with the reporters there and said he's next in line, the No. 1 contender and he demands his shot. He could have gone to the press conference, as Dereck Chisora did to ask Charles Martin for a shot (which he did respectfully, congratulating Martin and saying it doesn't matter how he won it, he won it, and Dereck would be willing to fight him anywhere, etc.). Povetkin could have come to Wilder's press conference. He could have, if he didn't want to be disruptive in any way, let everyone know he was outside and ready to answer questions if anyone had any.

He could have done 1,000 things without doing what Fury did and still been an alpha. Lots of guys do. Tell me the purpose for being there if not to stake his claim on next in line and let the world know he's the man? Except he didn't act like the man.

Sasha was still processing the KO, his intelligent he is doing the math & figuring out his chances vs the obviously faster, taller power puncher

Tyson Fury rightfully confident, undefeated & confident, coming off an easy beat down over Wlad...felt he can stand up to Wilder Tyrannical tendencies...While Povetkin preferred to fully process what just happened :think

He was expecting to fight Wilder in late 2015, that's why there were no negotiations about any other fight. When Wilder successfully lobbied another optional defense versus Duhaupas, Povetkin signed to fight Wach. Only then Wilder/Povetkin apparently because "due" in January because it was obvious that Povetkin wouldn't want to fight in January.

There is no need for a man of honor or dignity to approach someone like Wilder and ask him for a shot or demand anything. Povetkin is the official mandatory challenger which Wilder is obligated to fight next. No need to get included in any kind of circus for the sake of promotion and a couple more dollars.

    Agree

I think the OP may confuse Povetkin's being a decent, respectful, professional athlete with him being passive and lacking confidence

As others have said, he does not speak English. Also, clowning around, shouting and making an embarrassment of yourself does not necessarily mean you are a alpha male. It is also certainly not how Povetkin acts. Were as shouting, repeating the same catchphrases and pumping your chest out may be seen as the tough alpha male thing to do in America, some Americans need to understand that that is not necessarily the way tough men from other cultures act. In fact, many people see that shouting, tub thumping lark as silly and an inability to control ones emotions.

Povetkin is the mandatory and up next for Wilder. He doesn't need to press for the fight. He has the fight. He would have been there to check out Wilder and talk to Wikders people behind the scenes about the fight.

Povetkin is big in Russia and Wilder seems to have a decent following in America so the fight does not really need to be sold. Not every fight has to have a lame WWE build up.
