What do you guys make of his debut? He was certainly thrown in at the deep end but he strikes me as being a bit of a meathead who thinks with his brawn instead of his brains. The guy has some decent BJJ credentials and is a world class Judoka. Likewise Yoshida is also a world class Judoka. And yet the entire fight was spent on their feet? That really wasnt the kind of peformance i was expecting from Ishii but he's really going to have to have to go back to the drawing board with a peformance like that.
It was a tough 1st fight to take but I was expecting more from him. First thing he needs to do is stick to one camp. All this bit part training all around the world doesn't seem to be helping him.
He really looked underwhelming, although Yoshida can have that effect on fighters, even good ones. I think I'll wait until his next fight, but as of now he wasn't impressive.
Very poor. He wasnt thrown into the deep end. Yoshida is on the slide and this was a go opponent who could of put Ishii over. In Japan losing isnt such a big deal its how you lose. Ishii looked terrible. 2nd fight is very very important.
Yoshida has clearly seen better days but the guy is a solid vet with big fight experience who was put in vs a rookie. Im not saying the jury is ou ton Ishii as this was just his first fight. But i was expecting a much smarter fighter than what we saw. He didnt seem to have much of a real clue and certainly didnt work to his strengths.
