Satoshi Shimizu born 3/13/86 is a 5'10.5 Featherweight with a 5-0 5 KO's record. Born in Soja, Okayama Prefecture and fighting out of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. Okay, 30 is a little late to get your start as a pro, but his 20's were pretty busy, he seems to be a Jack Of All Trades, while pursuing an amateur career and competing in several tournaments, including the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, he medaled in 2012 earning a Bronze. While all that was going on, he went to college, became a second lieutenant in the Japan Ground Self Defense League (basically the Army) and is currently working for Miki House, which makes Japanese children's clothes. He was involved in a controversy in the 2012 London Games, while he was trailing Magomed Abdulhamidov going into the last round, he dropped him six friggin times, and the Turkmen referee kept helping him up instead of stopping the fight, and Abdulhamidov went on to win 22-17, so the judges were corrupt as well, they appealed, and the decision was overturned with Shimizu taking the win, he went on to lose to Luke Campbell, but there's no shame in that. Since turning pro, how can I put this.... his defense hasn't been his top priority, he blocks punches with his face. But damn he's exciting to watch, how long he'll last before he gets brutally, and I mean brutally KTFO depends on just how good his chin really is. He's like a whirling dervish of activity, he comes in guns blazing looking to overwhelm his opponents, awkwardly winging in straight lefts, has a fairly persistent jab at times, wild overhands and left and right hooks galore, while eating a lot of leather in the process, but thus far his chin has held up and he puts on a show. Can he go far? Maybe.... if his chin holds up, because he has the volume to overwhelm many a fighter, almost comparable to that of Leo Santa Cruz, who he would most like put on a FOTY candidate against, what the hell make it already! Shimizu has no time to lose, he's already an old coot by Featherweight standards. Anyway, give him a watch, its probably only a matter of time before he shows up on UK or US TV screens. He's beastly, wild and very, very violent, and also packs a hell of a slobber knocker of a punch. Check Out The Tornado Of Yokohama In Action. Educate Yourselves Shimizu vs. Demecillo ****ing Savage!
