btw, just read through this entire thread & it had me getting a bit emotional againatsch took me right back to being there last night

What a thread, it was like a rollercoaster ride & had some quite brilliant moments, from the Burns fans having heart attacks to the neutrals being shocked by Ricky, from TFFP shouting to anyone that would listen that Martinez wasnt all that in the first place & he had always said so to about a hundred guys ganging up on Mr VIP, who credit to himslef hung in there when lesser men would have walked... there was too much going on for me to remember it all after just skimming through it there, but what a legendary thread:deal

Dontthink I have had a better read on ESB in all the years I have been posting here.

PS. I loved in the middle of all the madness someone pointed out Boxrecs RBR had 32 posts or something, & someone wisecracked- "so a busy day in there then'

You know something? The boxing gods have smiled on me Uppercut. Last time I took the huff here, it was for real. PM'd the guys who run the place a FEW times, asking them to ban me. For some reason though they didnt, or havent got round to reading my PM's yet!

So here I am, basking in the glory of Burns night. For all I know though they could switch my ass off at any second, but I wouldnt mind as I got my big moment on ESB, seen a scotsman beat the no1. It doesnt get better than this, & it would probably be a good thing if I got switched off now, cos I cant see me ever being this happy on ESB again.

Howzat for a cheesy post? I cant help it, last night was just too much. Its ****in changed me as a boxing fan, & for the better. Thought 90% of the englanders hated us etc & wanted to see us fail, clearly NOT the case. Its well humbled me.

Bet you didnt expect this reply, but I always speak my mind, & in this case my mind is at ease with brit ESB for the first time since I posted here all these years ago. Im a happy man, & what more can I say? & in all honesty, its all come out of the blue, like a whirlwind. You gotta remember I was Scotty Harrisons self proclaimed no1 fan on here, & its been a heavy burden to carry. Thank **** for Ricky Burns, & sir Frank Warren for keeping faith in scottish boxing, or I could have been a bitter **** for the rest of my days as a hardcore scottish boxing fan, thinking of what could have been had Scotty not went off the rails in spectacular fashion when there were fights with the great JMM etc just waiting to be signed.

Anyway, glad you're sticking around. I'd lost faith in the sport too a wee while back but nights like last night just remind that there is no sport like it on this earth.

And keep an eye out for Badger Hughes next month. If that boy beats Marsh he can go beyond domestic level no doubts.

 

To be fair to me...I did say this before the fight people are making too much out of Martinez because he's knocked over a few stiffs and Nicky Cook who everyone knows has questionable punch resistance.

Still not taking anything away from Burns, I'm surprised he was the one to expose Martinez so badly.
