People were hoping for fireworks out of Maskaev and Peter, but if you want to see good, well-conditioned big men in a more meaningful fight, the CW bout may be the way to go.

While Haye reportedly has had difficulties making weight at times, at least you know he won't have to be rolled from the dressing room into the ring. Also, the fight is very meaningful in Europe and is for the true title.

I'm going to watch the Showtime broadcast live, then watch HBO on the DVR. Let's just hope Steve Albert doesn't divulge any results from the HBO card.

Know what you mean Lamps. I think Haye, Mormeck , and Bell would all do well in the heavyweight division. They're all better conditioned , and have superior skills than most of the jiggly b-cups populating the over 200 boys. In history, Cruiserweights have been walloping Super Heavyweights for 80 years. Dempsey-Willard, Louis-Simon, Louis-Buddy Bear, Marciano-Layne, and Frazier-Mathis are just a few examples.

None of those guys would do well in the heavyweight division. Haye beat one guy at heavy, Bonin, and that guy got starched by Fraudley.

I think Haye could do well at heavy if he were matched carefully.

Actually, though, I'd like to see Cruiserweight become strong enough that guys didn't have to bloat north in order to make big money. There definitely have been some good fights the past couple years at Cruiser, but obviously the carrot of becoming world's heavyweight champ still carries a great deal of financial potential.

The real fights still Peter/Maskaev, there will be knockout, and I'm about 75% sure it's going to be Maskeav, that's going to be knocked out brutally.

I don't think I'd call the 190 pound Rex Layne a super heavyweight.

And c'mon, size aside, Buddy Baer sucked. His skill was almost non-existant.

But anyways, I think the only ones who might do well in the heavyweight division is Haye.

I'm not convinced of that yet til I see it.

Mormeck and Bell as well as some others aren't going to send the big guys running for cover.

Now I like the cruiserweight division,a lot of excitment going on at the moment.

But with heavyweights today weighing 230 and up, that's just too much for most of the cruisers deal with.

You're going to get some exceptions here and there, but few and far between.

If any of those top cruiserweights thought they'd be succesful at heavyweight. You could bet they'd be fighting there.

That's where they make the big bucks, especially compared to the cruiserweights.

Ask Haye, thats why he wants to move up...$$$$$

i dont think we are getting Maskaev-Peter shown in the UK, but after the last heavyweight title fight i stayed up til 3am to watch i dont think im that bothered.

Haye - Maccarinelli is THE fight this weekend, Peter lumbering after one of the worst WBC champs in history before TKOing him in 7 doesnt come close to two chinny bangers going toe to toe for the undisputed title...

Diaz - Campbell is a good second place, but I think that will be rather one sided in favour of JD.

This is THE fight on Saturday. Linear champ vs rival WBO champ, both huge bangers with plenty of boxing skill. I think people are underrating Macca just a pinch, though Haye is undoubtedly quite a talent.

What do you think of Macca, Axe? I haven't seen as much of him, so I'm sort of taking Haye more on faith. I've been much more impressed with Haye than Macca in what I have caught of Enzo.

Very good jab (better than Haye's) and power that carries on late into fights. Great stamina. If he can take haye deep he has a good shot.

His boxing skills are not bad, but Haye imo has the better movement. He's an underdog in there with a live chance to pull it out. :good

  13. I concur and i would be very surprised if Oleg is around to see the 7th round, put your $$$ on Peter to win by KO..

Oh, I am. Peter is going to make a statement tomorrow night, with a brutal knockout over Maskaev, a fighter thats been ducking him for close to a year and a half. If Peter put on a great show, some people will look at Peter as the true champ of the division, after Wlads weak performance a couple weeks back.
