Having seen Magee fight tonight, I can safely say that there is no need for worry about such a scenario. Sure, he is experienced and tough. But he is way way too slow for Ward.

    From the Scene:

"The WBA's "regular champion" at super middleweight, Karoly Balzsay (24-2, 17KOs), has become a forgotten man in the division but it's now being reported that Balzsay is planning his return after recovering from a back injury. Balzsay is also in negotiations with Universum about his contract. Karoly stepped in for Dimitri Sartison on short notice to win the regular crown on a decison over Stas Kashtanov last year. The winner in this fight was, by agreement, to make his first defense against Sartison but the new boss at Universum, Waldemar Kluch, has reportedly nixed all internal matchups."

I don't think Balzsay will fight Sartison based on what Universum's new boss has on the go.

This article also suggests that Balzsay isn't injured anymore... why not have Magee fight him instead of going straight for Ward?

Did Sauerland actually think he'd put Markussen in with Ward?

Magee, will not beat Ward at all. If the fight did ever happen, it would only ever simply be for Ward to remain active. It would still be deemed a defense of his title and personally i think Magee would be better fighting Balzsay instead. If he beats him then ok, fight Ward or Froch (again) but its hardly the end to a career you'd want if it was you in Magee's shoes.

Magee of course because he is fighting a dude that's not coming of a loss. He has more wins and fought guys like Bute Froch and Ward, this dude ain't ducking no1. Who has Bute fought to compare his resume with Magee's ?

Yeah Bute didn't even fought names like Arthur Abraham, who's most important attribute is... his name, and a power showed only for the most dangerous bums. :yep
Also Magee's loss against Bute worth more than any of Bute's wins, Brian almost made it till the end of the fight and against Froch he was leading, Froch got lucky, that night his puncher's chance worked. Froch will not win a rematch. Bute never fought a guy like Bute.

He's still wondering who in the world Andre Ward could face next that is more deserving than Bute. :think

    It feels empty without him.
I'm taking his place in this thread.

That's Dirrell clearly. Kessler will do, but his not available.
Also it's not about who's more desserving but that Ward deserves a couple of bums to be fresh like Bute, It's not fair for Ward who was in so many atrocious wars in the SuperSix to fight a fresh Bute. So it will be fair for Ward to relax against Magee who's still better than any1 Bute has fought and maybe Tony Dirrell, while Bute proves himself, since he doesn't have anything better to do against Froch and who know later maybe Kessler or Dirrell.
