What does Canelo have to do to get into the Top 20 All time P4P ranking? Which accomplishments / opponents would give him that ranking?
I think if he had beaten Floyd and KO'd GGG then he would have had a shot at being in that higher level, but as it is I think top 100 (or maybe 75) is a best case scenario. Which isn't too bad if you think about it!
Archie Moore Ray Leonard George Dixon Terry McGovern Packey McFarland Pernell Whitaker Tony Canzoneri Jimmy McLarnin Would need to get in with guys like that.
Top 20?? Based on.....titles/belts won per division? especially at a time when there are more belts then ever...and at boxing's EASIEST time to become a multiple weight champ...you need accomplished names to get the goods. Not just beating untested fighters for their belts.
Nah. Clearing the weakest division in his weight range does not put you at the top table. If he'd cleared Middle as well as Light Heavy you maybe able to argue it. but that's clearly not going to happen now.
No. He would need to sweep another division/s and add factors like longevity and high activity to his career to even become noteworthy on the boxing timeline. It's incredibly hard for modern fighters to crack top P4P lists. Not enough great names to add to resume; Mayweather-esque approach to matchmaking; boxing being less prominent etc.
Oh ffs here we go again. The guy is limited af. He has mastered the art of conning the public with - fixed fights, extensive cherrypicking, cardstacking and robberies. Your status as a legit boxing fan is invalidated if you support or believe this fraud.
I remember when Alvarez was disowned for running away from Golovkin, and dumping his strap back in the day. Those were the times.
Top "insert number" lists are pointless. The spots available are limited but the number of great boxers will only increase.
He's definitely a top 10 - hell, top 5 PED cheat of all time Drug testing, corrupt judges and short camps Canelo learned a lot from the Mayweather loss. Particularly the part where he must not lose at any cost.
