Saul Alvarez dominates Lovemore N'Dou, moves to 35-0

As expected, Lovemore N'Dou took another big name fighter to the distance, showcasing his superb conditioning, good defense and solid reflexes (especially for a 39yo), and he gave Canelo exactly the kind of looks he was chosen for. It was a boxing match from start to finish with both fighters looking to capitalize on mistakes and set power shots up with the jab, and N'Dou tried his best to lure the kid into traps ultimately coming up short and losing a near-shutout as Alvarez didn't leave him many openings. I only gave N'Dou R6 and maybe R10. So no KO this time, but similarly to last year when he faced Lanardo Tyner, it seemed Alvarez was content to go 12.

I noticed that Saul's mouth opened up mid-way which usually is a sign of a tiring fighter, but he looked sharp in the 12th, just a note for the future. Also, an occasional overhand right found success by N'Dou, so Alvarez needs tighten his defense vs. that particular shot. I expect Team Alvarez to hire N'Dou for future sparring, so he'll learn plenty of tricks from th crafty veteran. The thing is: Saul is getting there but there are still some areas they need to work on like footwork, and looking at the improvement of Nonito Donaire under Robert Garcia, I'd seriously consider hiring him for Canelo as he's entering the top level. There are some similarities with Miguel Cotto who showed some mistakes as a young fighter that were never corrected, a fighter can develop as far as the trainer can take him. I believe Robert Garcia has what it takes to bring a youngster to the elite level, why not hire him?

Both fighters weighed in under the contract weight of 150lbs and look ready to go. Lovemore N'Dou is a tricky veteran who like Hopkins and Glen Johnson always keeps himself in good shape, and other than maybe the first Malignaggi fight, he had all very close fights with Cotto, Cintron, Witter etc., and has never been stopped, so I think it's gonna be a very solid test for the 20yo.

This is once again a step in the right direction for his young career. It will be a tough veteran with a little more left in the tank than Baldo. You got to hand it to Alvarez for taking on better competition each time out, unlike most of the up and coming fighters.

Its not really a test. Even Matthew Hattom of all people drew with N'Dou. Alvarez will stop him in 6.

Really like Saul, and I think he could go far.
I'm almost certain he's going to win this one, but I don't know if he's capable of stopping Lovemore.

I'm actually really looking forward to this fight. I think Alvarez will win this on points, but N'dou will push him to the limit.

N'dou can be outboxed, but he brings alot of pressure so it'll be interesting to see how Alvarez deals with it. He is technically gifted but let's see how well it stands up under a bit more pressure - definitely expecting N'dou to put him on the backfoot for sections of the fight.

This is a very important step up for Alvarez and I don't see Alvarez winning by KO, but he will be better for it when he does mix it with the A-class opponents. I believe he also will pick up the IBO belt if he wins, which can be handy on the negotiation table.

It's unbelievable to see Alvarez at this young age already fighting Boldomit and N'dou.

What? If he fought Johannes Boldomit at this point, he'd get crushed outright.

He's like a throwback to the old school fighters - Tyson and Ali were pretty young when they started mixing it with top level opponents....

If Alvarez do not stop and outclass this very old overweight N'dou I will not be impresed at all. People critize Cotto a lot because He got a close fight with N'dou but that N'dou was in his prime in his weightclass and comming to a very controversial loss to the number 2 rated fighter at that time Shramba Mitchell. This N'dou will be at 2 weight classes above and close to 40 years old. This is a mismatch i still expect to give Alvarez some problems Alvarez is overrated.
