if this guy can keep doing what he's doing, along with stepping up the competition AND learning some english he has the potential to be HUGE....we'll see how he plays out over the next couple of years.

I am inclined to believe that he is at the very least 4 fights away from a title fight.

He already beat current IBF LW titleholder Miguel Vazquez twice, highly skilled Euri Gonzalez and the Luciano Cuello who gave Chavez Jr. all he could handle, Canelo only recently fought veterans (and good ones). Saul is yet to step up to the real international level, but fought a bunch of guys who are or were ranked contenders in their class and came to win. N'Dou is a solid pro veteran who did NOT decline much (on the other hand never was real world class), and it was the right fight at the right time, not to look good now, but to learn and look good in the future.

It seems Canelo understands where he stands at the moment and the job to be done before thinging big fights. Although he expressed his thoughs of fighting Pacquiao one day, he's taking one step at a time.

"I want to face Manny Pacquiao. I'm joining the group of those who want to fight with him, and I will in time. In my career, things are going step by step. My promoter Oscar De La Hoya is right when he said that I should be fighting for a world championship by the end of 2011, and not before.

In the fight where I beat Lovemore Ndou in Veracruz, I realized what I need to learn. I have to go slowly, without haste, plus there's no reason to hurry. For now I will rest, and be with family. It has been a busy year. My next fight.....we've scheduled it for late February, but there is still no opponent or venue."

I think the much improved Matthew Hatton is now a pretty interesting fight, at least in my book. A prime, hungry, determined but not genuine world class fighter, that's the logical next opponent for Canelo.
