I thought he got exposed. If you're getting rocked by a c level blown up lightweight it definetly isn't a good look for the future.

We can question the guy's punch resistance and maybe criticize him for being over confident, but to say a 19 year old kid has been "exposed" after dominating a seasoned veteran like Cotto is to either be stupid or racist, either way, I've got no time for it.

Marco Antonio Barrera turned professional at age 15, and after becoming world champion he suffered his first loss at the hands of Junior Jones. This was T Bag's reaction.

    "Barrera has been exposed".

Marco then goes on to become a three weight world champion, inflicting both Morales and Hamed's first professional defeats.

I like Alvarez and i have no doubt he will become a fav of mine as time goes by.
That being said, his performence was alright given his age, and one must factor that this was his first MAJOR fight and probably a step up as well in a lot of ways.
So ALL things considered, it wasnt bad. We have to remember the kid is 19 years old.

Theres A LOT of work he needs to do right now as far as becoming a smarter fighter, although i like his punch selection for the most part, and his body shots were very nice, he gets hit WAAAAAAY too much, and his jab is almost non existent, which would have made last night fight 10x's easier on him.

Time will tell, there was a lot of good and a lot of bad, in my eyes....

Now, dont get me wrong, im strictly holding him to an 'elite' standard, i am down as a fan because this kid is strong, exciting, good mentality, ect.... so it has nothing to do with likes or dislikes, im just talking potential and all that. I did see a lot of bad, but hey, hes 19 and still stepping up, im going to give him time and benefit of the doubt. It will all come down to how smart he is in all honesty, if hes smart, he will improve and he will no doubt be a force, if hes not i can see him becoming a Gatti like fighter, a good fighter with a big fanbase who puts on exciting fights but falling just short of the best.
But again, its simply too early to tell.

Anyways, i look forward to his future fights, and ya know... i would probably put him in with Cotto AGAIN if i was GBP, there is no law against it, Cotto can come and try to do better, and Alvarez i think can learn a lot from these type of fights.... they need to dissect this one and id put him in with Cotto again and see if he can improve. I think if they make a step up in class right now it will be a mistake. Put him in with Cotto again 2 months from now and let him go through another learning experience.... then go from there.

Kid got skills, but then again he got stun by a much much smaller Cotto and Cotto was handling his power well. Don't see him doing the same with guys his own size.

I'm already loving this guy. He could be the first undisputed Mexican middleweight champion of the world before this is over. He was in with an aweful lot of fighter for his Golden Boy debut. He is only 19 and his name isn't Tyson so lets ease up on the hate a little bit. I'm thinking Golden Boy has a lot of confidence in this kid if they are putting him in with this level of competition right off.

I'm older than Alvarez at 20. He's got some growing to do, what you have just seen is nothing close to the finished article. I do understand your concerns, though.
