    Ponce lands nice left on chin of Jhonny. Hard counter left from Ponce. Hard right hand from Jhonny. Hard left from Ponce. Right hook from Ponce. Another right hook from Ponce and Jhonny land hard right on Ponce splitting his guard. Straight right from Jhonny and Pnce handles it well. Hard couter left from Ponce De Leon. Nice Left from Ponce to the body. Nice right from Jhonny. Double left hands from Ponce and then a slapping right and that is round.

    De Leon needs to get closer to Gonzalez. Make it an inside fight. Mid range is suiting Gonzalez.

    Gonzalez is boxing nicely on the outside, landing the long left jab on Ponce De Leon and staying away from that powerful overhand left. Body shots by Gonzalez, and a few clapping shots to the ears sending Ponce De Leon's rat tail aflutter. Ponce De Leon goes for a left to the body but can't quite reach. Jabs to the face by Gonzalez, pushing Ponce De Leon back. Quick step to the right by Ponce De Leon, trying to line up a high jab and a big windmilled left behind it. Gonzalez keeps his feet crossing to remain squared up at a minimum distance of a few feet, and his punches straight.

    I wouldn't argue that. Seemed like he was on his way to a stoppage. I would have liked to have seen that play out though. Especially with the way that the fight was going. Back and forth and Maidana had looked to be slowing down before he got the energy boost from hurting Karass. Who knows if Maidana could have kept firing away hard for the knockout before wearing himself out. Would have been interesting.

    I understand the idea of the ref looking to protect the fighters... but it's a fighting sport. You have to allow a guy to take a bit of a beating if he is still fighting back. I can't tell you how many times I have seen a fighter taking a worse beating than that and coming back to win. That's what makes great fights.

    Ponce pressing to get that Left hand off. Left to the body of Jhonny. Jhonny land nice left hook. Left to body of Jhonnny Left to the body aagain then one upstairs from Ponce. Jhonny flurries and is blocked. Jhonny lands straight right . Left to the body and right hook upstairs from Ponce. Left hook from Jhonny. Left to body of Jhonny. Counter left from Ponce Right hook from Ponce. Hard left to body of Jhnny and left hook as well. Left hook on Ponce at the end and then they try to flurry at the bell.

    Ponce De Leon is waving right jabs out as Gonzalez counters with the 1-2. Reaching left hook by Gonzalez, tapping Ponce De Leon on the temple. 1-2 by Gonzalez. Ponce De Leon keeps pumping the jab, but his shorter reach is hurting him here and he isn't in an urgent hurry to close the gap. Right hand by Gonzalez. Both giving each other respect, wary of the notorious power. Ponce De Leon tries a pair of lefts to the body, then rips a right hook across Gonzalez's jaw. Nice left speared in low by Ponce De Leon, who's getting closer with the left up top as well. Left hook by Gonzalez. Ponce De Leon slams into Gonzalez's guard with the left hand up top. Jab by Gonzalez, blocked as Ponce De Leon steps back. 1-2 by Ponce De Leon. Lead left, ducking back as Gonzalez pops a few counters straight down at his face. Jab by Gonzalez, and a BIG left to the body by Ponce De Leon moving Gonzalez back a couple of steps. Another left slapped over the top by Ponce De Leon.
